I've had the car for over a year, and I use Mother's Reflections Premium polish on the car (94 black). I've experimented with carnuba wax, but I find that it leaves a haze that is difficult to remove. Can anybody recommend a wax that is friendly to black paint.

Although my car is not black, I noticed the same (haze) with Mother's Carnuba wax. I tried One Grand Blitz and was really happy.

Another plug for Zaino . Best stuff I've ever used. Smells good too. Get the car wash, Z2,ZFX and gloss enhancer. You'll thank us.

I use the mothers 4 stage system, It worked extremely well on 1995 black RT and 2001 Sapphire Blue GTS. Hard colors to get rid of swirl marks, but mothers system works good.

1) Mothers Pre wax cleaner and grim remover.
2) Mother Clear coat glaze, polisher and sealer.
3) Mothers Carnuba wax
4) Mothers California Gold detailing spray for the final touch to get rid of any wax haze and enhance wet look shine.

Once you do the 4 steps once, then you only do step 4 after every wash and step 3 every 3 months (depends how much you drive) and repeat all the steps once a year.

Everyone raves about Zaino, will try it when I am out of mothers products.

im not sure of his name, but im sure someone will remember it.. theres a gentleman on the board with a black first gen RT who waxed his car to a mirror finish (as seen in the pictures he took), and im pretty sure he said he tried zaino but product xyz gave a better shine on a black car..

i cant remember the gentlemans name or the name of the wax, but i do remember the car looked awesome!!

maybe someone else can chime in here..

I think his screen name was BUZZZZ. He had a mirror finish on his black Viper.

Forget Zaino, Follow thes steps for the perfect shine, never a haze. It will take you a few days and some time but it's worth it.

1) Wash car with Dawn to strip the car of any residual wax, etc.
2) Claybar the entire vehicle to remove all of the impurities left from the washing.
3) Break out the buffing compound and buff the car BY HAND to remove all of the scratches, you'll be surprised what will come off.
4) Next, hand glaze the entire car to fill in any scratches and restore the shine.
5) Finally, use "Liquid glass" to wax the car. I put 2 coats on the entire car and 4 on the nose so that bugs come off easy.

You may think this is overkill but to bring your car's luster back without trapping the elements and putting "swirl" marks in it, this is the only way to go. Zaino can't even come close to the luster, I think they're overrated..........

I have two black cars and I've found that Meguiar's works best, followed by Zaino.

I use the Gold Class Wax and it seems to make the paint appear a tad darker/deeper than the Zaino. You can probably attain similar results with Zaino, but it took a lot more work to get the Zaino to produce nearly the same results as one application of Meguiar's.

Todd:

Thanks for the compliment. I wax by hand; only because black shows swirls and rough spots more so than any other color.
