I had my 2001 RT/10 hood repainted by a local dealership. When I came to pick it up it was outside and a 10 minute acid rain had come down on it along with all the dust. I quickly took it home and rinsed and washed it with all my special cotton and zaino products to get the acid rain off the unprotected hood. After I dried the car I could see about 4 or 5 big sweeping arcs of scratches from somebody probably wiping off the car at the dealership. I am so disappointed. In my garage it looks way worse than before I took it to be repainted. Does anybody in the Silicon Valley area know of a real good paint buffer guy that can polish my hood back to show quality? Thanks. I know my zaino products will not fix these scratches. Thanks again. Dennis Kimball

Dennis:

I work in San Jose, but always take my car to a detailer in San Ramon (approx. 30 minutes Northeast). The place is called Sponges and they have a detailing shop adjacent to their Wash Business where they work their magic on a lot of high-end cars.

After two visits I've been very pleased with the results and the Manager takes good care of people. I have a black GTS and I'm picky about how the car is cleaned too! I don't recall the guy's name, but you could call them and ask if they have any suggestions and I'm sure they'll be sincere in telling you if they can bring the luster back or if you should look to another source.

Dennis,
I have had excellent luck w/ Stevens Creek Dodge w/ my black 94. They have always done what it takes to make sure I'm happy when the car is complete. If you had the issue w/ them, take it back to them and let them know what's up. They did a "complete detail" last time my car was in, and the interior and exterior have never looked better. If it was not them that did the paint, I would still consider taking it to them. Bill Tiernan is the Manager - great guy! 408-727-3258
email me if you want to talk.

While my car was getting other warranty work on it, I mentioned the fact that there were deep scratches on my hood under the clear coat from the factory, and there were these little tiny bubbles starting to form on each side of the hood about a foot back from the vents over the front wheels. The guy said I should have Dodge repaint it, so I said go for it. I heard this dealer had a new state of the art paint facility, so I figured it would be a good gamble. Now I am nervous to take it back to them figuring they might only try to cover up the problem, or make it worse??? That is why I figured a detailer that works on custom show cars would be a good person to go see. I have been recommended one in San Jose called Matt's detailing...anybody heard anything about this place? Thanks , Dennis Kimball

Dennis, California Auto Polish in Campbell was a good choice in the past. I have not had them do any thing in the last two years.
Rocky knows them well, his shop was next door to them. They used to have cars ship to them from across the country for detailing.
Call them and then stop buy and see what there working on and how it looks.
Good Luck,
Dan

Dennis,
I would take it back to the dealership and have DC send you a new hood from the factory and take back the old to see the mess!!!
of course, under warranty

This is not a neon!! They should have offered a new hood seeing that it is now messed up and not your fault!

good luck!
