At IL VCA's last track day, the 2nd of the year, one of the members was looking at his track tires, and realized that his cords were showing on his PS2's. One might not be that upset thinking that he had used these tires for a season, but in fact, he had just purchased them at the beginning of the year and had used them ONLY for the clubs 2 trackdays! Basically he corded brand new ps2's after total cumulative track time of three hours. He was taking the situatoin far better than I would have, considering the cost of ps2's.
Having just mounted ps2's on my track rims and used them for two days, I have also noted significant wear, especially on the outside edge of all of the tires. This is the same place the other members tires were showing cords. I ran all of last season on a set of kuhmo's without a single problem, other than a good amount of rubber on the car.
My question is to those of you tracking their cars on ps2's. Have you experienced this type of rapid tire wear? How many events have you been able to get out of a set of tires? What tire pressures are you starting off cold typically?
