The hood is so easy to remove I'm toying with the idea of a ceiling-mounted pulley system. It would make working on Vipers or any car for that matter a lot easier. Anybody have any ideas or pics?

kinda like this but beefier? I like the idea...
Here's the one I designed and built for my car. I used coated steel aircraft cable and nico pressed all the sleeves in place. I used heat shrink over any exposed sleeves and or cable. I then purchased soft climbers slings which attach to the factory points. I can send detail pics if you need them. I placed a forged eye into the footing of my house and hooked a 1 ton com-a-long to the eye. All my cables run to the come-a-long. The system works flawlessly and lifts the hood off at the exact angle that the hood opens to. Simple one man operation.

My wife is trained very well on removal/install help but she doesn't really like it
She should be grateful you let her touch your snake.
Here is a pic of my setup. Pretty simpleWhen I was having problems keeping a motor together, I fabbed up a quick and cheap system to keep my hood out of the way. Very simple and bought all the parts at Ace.
It consists of nylon rope, some eye bolts, copper tubing, and pipe insulation. I cut 2 pieces of tubing that would rest nicely under my hood and cradle it at the front and back. Then I cut the pipe insulation to fit the tubing to add cushion to the tubing. Next I ran the rope through the tubing and then to the eye bolts that I mounted up in my rafters. My garage ceiling isn't very high either (maybe 9ft to the rafters). So the eye bolts act as the pulleys and the rope slides through them and down to each side of the car.
It takes 2 people but you don't have to be strong to do it. Its not perfected, but it is simple and it did hold my hood above my car for over a month while I swapped motors. It probably cost me less than $20 and 2-3hrs of engineering and installation.
I'm not at home right now or I'd take some pics for you guys.
