Quaife with 3:55's on the way!

Just ordered it. Coming already installed in a diff, so all I have to do is pull the stock one and replace it. The next trick is finding the time to do it. Any tips or tricks? It looks simple enough as far as the driveshaft and half-shafts.

By the way...is there any market for a stock diff with stock gears in it if I want to get rid of my stocker?

I'm preparing to take my 06 on the Cannonball One Lap of America and have been reviewing what tools and spares I need to take. I figured I would take spare half shafts but then I looked at the shop manual to see how tough it is to replace them. Says you need special tools to disconnect ball joint from control arm and another one to remove the half shaft. I priced the tools at NAPA and it looks like I would need to spend like $400 or more just on the tools. Hopefully you have a better way of removing the half shafts or you have the necessary tools.

I hope there is another way. If I'm spending $400 on tools, then I might as well have someone do the labor as well. My decision on hat usually comes down to time.

I've got my shop manuals upstairs in my "parts" room, but I haven't looked up yet. To be honest, it really makes some jobs sound a whole lot simpler or more complicated than they really are. Just depends on the job. I honestly only tend to look at when I get stuck on something or need a torque spec.

I know Proshop just changed his out himself in a couple of hours and said it wasn't too bad. I didn't ask about special tools though. Hopefully he will chime in here.

Woo Hoo, you wont be let down. As for swapping it out, it is pretty easy. No special tools needed! you will need some big wrenches and sockets like 20, 21, 22 ,23 mm I cant remember the exact size off hand, sorry.
Jack the rear of the car up around 14 to 16 inches.
Remove the under body plate
Put jack-stands on the frame in front of the rear tires
Pull off the drivers side tire
Remover the upper A-arm bolts that connect to the frame
Remove the two bolts holding on the stabilizer bar to the frame
Use a short 6pt 1/4in with a small extension to pull the straps off of the -propeller shaft (drive shaft)
Unbolt the 4 e-brake line brackets that mount to the frame. (you cant miss them) vip tie them out of the way.
Get a jack under the diff
Remove the 4 bolts that are on the diff mounting it to the frame via big rubber- bushings
With the slack you made from unbolting the A-arm and stabilizer bar you can slide the shaft off go the diff with a slight tug of a pry-bar between the diff housing and cv shaft.
With the drivers shaft off you can now slide the diff towards the drivers side -allowing the passengers side shave to be removed.
BAM! drop the old diff out and throw that **** way via shipping it to me.
Zip-tie up the two axles to the frame and out of the way.
Re install the new diff.
It took me 2.5 hours and that was with me laying under the car goggling over how everything is so race car like. Don't for get to add fluid and go putt around a few hundred miles before you start stabbing it.

The one I bought does not. I'm just sticking with the stock half-shafts until I get the power to worry about it. Hoping to put a Paxton on this winter and then I will need to change them when I start tracking it if I'm using sticky tires (which I'm sure I will). I just came across too good of a deal to pass up on this rear end.
