I just received my NX wet system and the -4AN braided hoses are way too long (from solenoid to nozzle). Has anyone shortened hoses before, and if so, HOW? Hopefully I won't have to order a set of custom ones. TIA,

Ted

Right around the corner from our shop is a custom hose warehouse that builds nitrous lines for us. Mark them where you'd like to have them cut and ship to us, I'll have them shortened.

Is this the system that you bought? Also, did you get a bottle warmer? I am also looking at them.

Thanks

I bought that kit, except it came with a 10 lb bottle. I bought the purge separately and am shopping for a warmer before I install it all.

I was actually looking for the fittings/tools needed to do it myself. Larry, I GREATLY appreciate your offer and might take you up on it if I can't figure out a way to do it myself. There's no speedshop in this town of 20,000 that I trust with the Viper.

So with that in mind, anyone know how I can shorten my own lines?? Summit mentions cutting them with a rotary (Dremel) tool or a hacksaw, so I'm assuming there's some fittings I can use that don't require a specialty machine??? Thanks again guys!

Does not need to be a speed shop. Look for a hydraulic line supply house that does lines for construction equipment etc. Had a buddy that used to work at a big place here in Phoenix called Granberry Hose that could even build you a hose for your power steering. Shortening a braided N20 line would have been a piece of cake for them. Just need the crimping machine.

Mike is right, you need a crimping machine. No sense in shortening without the TOOFAST Bracket.$150 all aluminum 1/4 plate welded to 3"tubes.$175.Brush finish.$225.mirror polish.
The short lines save nitrous and gas, quick purging before
runs.
Mostly a cleaner looking job.No HP gain to speak of.

I'm not looking for any HP gain, just looking to clean up the engine compartment.......no need for an extra foot of braided line to have to hide.

Thanks AGAIN for the TOOFAST bracket offer, but I will fabricate my own solenoid mount. Your unit looks good though :2tu:

Okay, okay, I guess I'll find a hydraulic line shop to do it for me. I HATE not being able to do such a simple thing myself. I am looking in the Summit catalog and it appears as if they have fittings that go on the bare end of the braided hose. Are those only good for water, oil, etc??? They are called "Russell Full Flow Hose Ends." Anyone know if they'll work? If not, I'll shut up and go directly to the guys with a 'crimper'.

You guys know.......any excuse to buy another tool...

Question - aren't those hoses a 3AN size, as an example the hose from the bottle is a 4AN. Just a thought, if they are a 4AN, that can reduce your hp. When nitrous goes from a smaller vesel (solenoid out) to a larger vessel (4AN), the liquid turns to a gas and that means less hp. Even the 3AN is not perfect, but, somewhat better
