Back when my '01 RT was stock, the loudest sound in the car was the whirring from the motor's valvetrain. What you're describing sounds quite normal.

FWIW, once I installed an aftermarket exhaust, I no longer heard the valvetrain

Glad this post was put up and I read it. I experience the same thing and was getting worried, especially since warranty is up in May.
Thanks everyone.

Joe I believe you hit the nail on the head. I am very certain that it is fuel injector noise and not valvetrain on my car. But then what do I know???

Ron,
The ex Valvetrain Guy (Hmmm sounds kinda like ex glass guy eh?)
