I recently purchased my first car online. It came with a temp tag. What do i do about getting the real tag? is it suppose to come in the mail? was I suppose to do anything on my end? All my other cars I have always just transfered the tag from one car to the other.

Call you local DMV and ask them. It varies from state to state.

I just got my title today from Woodhouse for my recent purchase and took it to my DMV and registered it. Since I live in a different state the dealer could not do it.

Yeah i figured it out, the dealer is mailing all the paper work today to my local DMV and then once they get it i have to go to the DMV to finish registering it.

Thanks though.

The only way a dealer can give you a good tag is if you purchase in state. Otherwise they should send you the paperwork & you deliver to your DMV.

Most states have "transit" or "trip permits" that usually buy you legality for 5-30 days for $20-25. Great for the boat trailer or travel trailer at the hunting lease you only transport twice a year. I still have a couple from WA that I keep handy "just in case".

Paperwork differs from state to state. But a temp tag should come with it, if not then you can pick one up at your DMV if you have the paperwork for transit.
