I did mine today on my lift. I wouldn't try it with jackstands unless you like swimming in coolant. Overall it was a lot more work than it should be. First problem is finding the proper wrench to remove the block plugs. It must be metric or something. It's between 1/4 and 3/8 square. I ended up making one. Plugs were very tight! Refilling, burping again and again took quite a while. There is a small vent plug in the top of the thermostat housing that I didn't remove. Same tool problem only smaller size... That would probably have made it fill quicker. Be sure to read about burping in the tech section off the VCA home page. Good luck, you'll need it.

Mark, I have a procedure to change the coolant that doesn't require removing any plugs or even going under the car for that matter. It was given to me by a fellow IL club member and it is claimed to have come from team viper. Unfortunately, it's at home and I'm not! If you can wait till next week I can hook you up. If not, then Baba Booey to you too!

One further suggestion, after you have done the oil and coolant change. Remember to clean the suspension thoroughly, use a toothbrush if necessary!!! hehehe!!

Hi Mark --
Quick suggestion -- Don't forget to turn the heater on too when flushing away all of the coolant.

Replace the expansion tank cap -- good practice when flushing your cooling system.

Don't overfill your expansion tank -- coolant needs some room for expansion. You will notice the proper fill marks on the side of the tank. Upon completion of your procedure and after running the car, check the coolant level 4 or 5 times to be sure the coolant level is up to par.

Mix your water/coolant level 50/50 or perhaps 60/40 any more in either direction can result in more harm then good. Water is the best conductor to remove heat, coolant raises the boiling point at a higher temperature.Coolant not only raises the boiling point of your cooling system, it lubricates the water pump and other internal parts. As important as it is for cooling, it protects the different metals from eating each other (galvanic corrosion

I would recommend flushing your cooling system every two years, especially all aluminum engines.
