Does anyone have any experience with putting a Racetech seat in a Gen 3? I am looking at the RT4009HR. The RT4009HRV is called the "Viper" seat, so I know it will fit. However, the RT4009HR is about $1000 less expensive, so I do have to at least consider it.

The dimensions on the two are very similar, but the V-seat has shoulder "wings" that don't flare out as much as the non-V seat. Has anyone tried this seat before?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The non Viper seat will cut into the door panel And you will still need to cut the left wing down. Installing is VERY tight and will test your patients. I have talked to a couple of people that have these seats and they both tell of the PITA the install was because the opening to work is so close, and that they will not be removing them when they sell the car LOL.

Mark,

My car will not have door panels, so do you know if the interference is removed when the door panels are taken out?

Thanks for your insight.

BTW, the Racelogic arrived Friday.

David,

I'm working on doing this right now in my 09 ACR. It seems that the Viper seat would likely be a better fit and it is a whole lot stronger than the non-Viper seat.

Mark,

How about the fit of the Racetech Viper seat in the SRT? I believe they are using this seat in the ACRX. Will it fit without removing the door panels?

The ACR seat will still rub a hole in the panel as it flexes side to side. The wings on any seat cannot be wider than 20" without rubbung. You could raise the seat mount 1/2" on the outside and gain a little clearance, but may feel funny for some.

This is why I chose (for autocross) the aluminum seat. It let's be bend in the wings a little and actually hold me tighter. I don't know about using it for road racing though.
