Racing Harnesses for \'04 SRT-10

Hi all,

While familiarizing myself with all of the info in my owners manual, there is a small reference to SCCA approved racing harnesses. I did a forum check to see if there was any info on this from previous posts and came up empty.

I have two new 5 point belt sets from Leaf racewear that I would like to install. Can anyone help me out?

Still waiting for my VCA membership info too.

thanks

We have the TeamTech harnesses in our SRT/10. Work like a charm, and you can easily detach the shoulder belts and toss them in the trunk when not in use.

I agree with the shoulder belts. But how do you hide the anti-submarine belts with the rotary buckle?

The bottom belt+rotary buckle tucks nicely under the seat, and stays there. The side belts tuck along the side of the seat, under the stock buckle. You can't tell without a close inspection that the car even HAS 5-points in this configuration.

Ah, I think I see the answer. I was speaking of 6 points where the anti-submarine belts come from the sides and come together in the rotary lock. It does not extend far enough to go below the seat.

Maybe it would work to attach the anti-submarine belts in front more like the 5 point. That way it also could hide underneath.

If you attach your 6 points under the seat you lose the reason to go to the 6 point in the first place - there would be too much belt and it would allow you to almost submarine as badly as a five point mounted in front of the seat. The "diaper" effect is annoying to deal with in a dialy driver, but it's an absolute necessity if you want 6 points. If you do it the other way, you'll find that the pressure of the shoulder harnesses will be pushing you down and forward in the seat - almost starting a submarining position instead of firmly pulling you back INTO the seat.

We'd always unclipped one side of the 6 points and tucked the camlock under the seat.

The Team Tech 6 points are easily hidden simply by unbuckling the "diaper" piece. Once the diaper piece is unbuckled and separated from the belts, the belts just disappear behind the seat, out of view.

To ready the 6-points for the track, you just re-thread the buckles. Takes less than 5 minutes per seat.
