News Update: We were able to obtain this latest photo from the police yard that now is holding the car as evidence. This is the latest and most accurate photo we has from the brutal crash and police are currently trying to recreate and understand how this could have happened.
They are looking out and want to know information on the *** car. If anybody can help with further info please do so. Update on the instructor: He has been released from the hospital and is being questioned by investigators.

Getting back to the NJ/Rte 4 incident....I just heard that immediately after the Viper went airborne from the impact with the oncoming Median (initial reports show, as a result of the recent torrential rainfall, that the Median was traveling at a greatly increased rate of speed since it's rate of erosion had jumped from .002 mm per annum to .004 mm per annum) the Instructor was thrown from the vehicle and literally skid down the highway for 300 yards ENTIRELY BALANCED ON HIS LEFT EAR! Apparently he was able to walk away from the incident with no serious injuries...but his Cell Phone was completely destroyed as a result of the slide.

Steve just spoke to Les and he said it wasn't him and told me his car is in the garage. He looks forward to coming out with us again in a few weeks when his work slows down. Adrian

HOWEVER - he has to take some responsibility for having poor enough judgement to be goaded into a street race in the first place.

So the Viper had sense enough to back off and the idiot did not. But what if the Viper just revved the motor at a stoplight and the idiot next to him jumps on it? Is the Viper still responsible for the idiot? I have no doubt the cops would nail the Viper as an active participant.

Or even if the Viper waves off a race and the idiot next to him lights 'em up anyway? Is the Viper still responsible because he's driving a car that "goads" someone into racing? It happens all the time.

The one responsible is the one that hit the car. Nobody else. Unfortunately the law sees it your way.

Very good points. It happened to me somewhere in AZ or NM. I was in the left lane at a light. Mustang pulls up. We acknowledge. He gasses it. I don't return the favor mainly because I was eating my lunch. Light changes to green. He blasts off. I continue on my merry way. A cop on the opposite side sees the Mustang blast off, U-turns and pulls me over. I was with my Mom and both of us were eating our sandwiches from Wendy's. He comes over to my window, does the usual check and says "It looks like you were racing!". I smile and say no because it'd be awfully hard to shift while eating. He had no choice but to let me go.

But the point is that he stopped me and not the Mustang. Now if the Mustang had an accident and/or killed somebody, I might be in deep ***** because of what the cop felt he saw.

Don't forget about all those do-gooder perfect citizens with cell phones that can call 911 and complain if you make any mistake and have you pulled over by a cop for suspicion of drunken or reckless driving. Yes some people just have nothing better to do.

Dunno about backing off and getting away with no penalty. There was some guy on a 9pm-ish court TV 20/20 type show about 1½ yrs ago. ABC or NBC.

He was racing but his car wasn't the one that hit the innocent victims, and got sentenced to 9yrs in jail anyways.

The black box was recovered and is being reviewed to check for the accuracy of this hypothesis. In all probability this seems to be the most explainable cause. It make total sense, the Vipair develops so much power that the vehicle didn't have a chance adhering to the pavement. The instructor didn't have a chance in hell.
