If most enthusiasts would use a 9500 with the LIVE connection we'd have a true weapon vs. laser traps... Even hours old data still gives you a heads-up on the roads that are currently being used for revenue generation.
I think I'll get one. 9500/LIVE users, does the detector-phone Bluetooth interface require that you disable hands-free Bluetooth connections (like UConnect)?
Rich
For those of us that tow in California, the speed limit is 55 mph
, it ***** and it's almost impossible to go that slow on major Interstates without causing issues for other motorists. I got pulled over about 6 years ago while towing and luckily got off with just a warning. The CHP officer was only too happy to inform me that once you tow, even with a standard class C license the fines are that of a commercial license....which means nearly double the $$$ fines. After getting pulled over on that trip, I immediately invested in a radar detector and haven't had any issues since.
Now the CHP is really targeting the RV/towing motorist. A lot of these new toyhaulers are way over the GVWR of the truck and the motorists license qualifications. One of my customers got pulled over for going 57 in a 55 on the way to Pismo while towing a giant toyhauler. It wasn't even a normal CHP, but the commercial guy in the pickup that usually work the scales and checks out big rigs. He got nailed for being overweight (he should have known better, not safe for the rest of us) and got nailed for having an aftermarket flatbed with no sides (differenct class of truck at that point, wrong license and decals and some other BS). In the end, the bill (fines and penalties) came to around $1000.00 and the judge dropped the ridiculous speeding ticket.
Here is easy and safe money for the State. By targeting RV'ers, etc a law enforcement officer feels pretty safe knowing he's not going to get shot in the face by a guy in a $60k Duramax towing a $70k Weekend Warrior with a wife in the cab and three rugrats sitting in the back seat. Like I said, safe, easy money. I guess I'd feel safer pulling over an obvious RV'er rather than a 1985 Buick Donk on 24's with dark tinted windows and a sweet aroma wafting from the sunroof.
The 9500/Live is a great way to help know where the traps are....even if you are going 57 mph.
Cheers,
George
