Does someone make an aluminum radiator upgrade for a 97 GTS that does not require modification of the factory air box or installation of a conical filter arrangement?

Slithrn: I like your taste in Vipers. I thought I've read on other posts that the Fluidyne requires modification of the factory air box. I'll call Sean and check it out for sure, thanks..

Call West Coast Vipers in Temecula, CA 909-676-1204. John Horton put Fluidyne ones without mods I believe. Just did John Dearings car.

If I remeber correctly, some later genII's required the modification to the air box with Fluidynes. I don't remember what the cutoff year is.

You might also consider Davis radiators. Heard good things about those as well.

Yes, Ron Davis has an aluminum radiator in stock I believe, for a great price as well. Call the number, hit #3, and talk to Tim. pete the xgg

I have been waiting to get one for a while, I thought Sean told me you just have to move the fan forward to do the install. I am getting mine on Oct 18th. Will let you know.

With the Fluidyne radiator you can use the STOCK air box without modifications or relocation (contrary to the instructions that came with it) My stock radiator was corroding and leaking so I replaced it.

From memory

*cut off the 2 center bolts from the radiator as they don't match up to the fan
*bend the small 1/4" hose outlet down
*trim a small section of the fan shroud around the large radiator hoses to get it to fit
*Put the radiator in the car WITHOUT the fan attached
*Cut slots on the fan shroud where the bolt holes go. You want to slide the fan DOWN into the car over the studs. There is not enough room to push the fan into the studs.
*Then take a jig saw and cut the top of the fan shroud right where the fan opening is (hard to explain w/o a pic) Trim about 1" off then break off the skinny "finger protectors" so basically the top 1/3 of the fan is exposed with nothing BEHIND it, but the edge of fan itself is still inside the fan shroud. Hard to explain but you'll see when you try to reassemble the air box, just look at what it's hitting then cut it off.

Worked for me, can't even tell the radiator was replaced. BTW this was WITH the newer fan, not my original '97 fan.

I put in a Fluidine Radiator, and had to modify the airbox to fit it in because the radiator is deeper than the stock unit, but I had read about some work-arounds to install the thicker radiator, without having to modify the airbox.

The new radiator is great by the way and I've never had any cooling problems with it installed. Even on scorching hot days in stop-and-go traffic. It's great!

Thanks for all the inputs. Seems like there are different experiences out there. I'll check out the leads given and post my results when there in.
