I know I've seen a thread on this before, but couldn't find it. What are some easy remedies for this guys?

Re: Raised

I used a piece of 600 grit sandpapter wrapped around a hardwood block and lightly ran it over the letters with a front to back motion. Looks good as new.

You don't have to coat them with anything after? Sounds too easy, thanks.

Re: Raised

Devildog is right, it is a losing battle but if you insist the sandpaper does work temporarily. And I suppose if you do this enough times you won't have any letters left!! Be advised however, if you are not very careful in keeping the paper taught on the block and it rubs against the red portion of the cover it will blemish the red. Probably one the those things one must live with.

Ok guys i know this is going to sound rediculous, but about two years ago we were working on a Gts and the customer wanted to see how the lettering looked black. So we took a permanent black marker and outlined it.Customer loved it(mind you this was supposed to be temporary just to get the idea)car comes back on a regular basis for upgrades and service and it still looks great. Also every time he opens the hood he gets compliments.I hate to admit it but it works and looks great. What have you got to loose?????

I have seen it, it does look good.....

As far as a permanent shine, not gonna happen. As everyone stated, a losing battle.....

Re: Raised

I tried the eraser, I'm not sure what super eraser you have ViperJoe but mine didn't do crap.

I used the highest grit wet paper I could find and it worked great with a wooden block. I taped the red with masking tape though due to Murphy's Law. I squirted WD40 on my finger afterwards. 10 minutes total.

Lasts a few months which is good enough for me.
