Since this will address two topics, I just started a new thread.
Took delivery three weeks ago of my '94 from Bill P... it was perfect except for a clunking sound, noticible over hard bumps, and when shifting. Our first guess was, a loose exhaust pipe. Called Bill, he said it wasn't doing that when he had it, so we guessed it happened in transit.
Took the car to Barbera Dodge in Roxborogh (right on the edge of Philly). Told them to check that out, and to do the PA state/emissions inspection (which, for whatever reason, involves driving the car.. in PA, inspections are done at plain old mechanics/shops, not stations run by the DMV).
My tech was John, who came out when I picked up the car to say hello. Nice gentleman. When I arrived, the car was in the delivery prep area being washed... that was a nice surprise.
Diagnosis was looseness in the cross member and related bushings. 1.5 hrs labor... forget the rate but it was in the $90 range (per hour). Driving home confirmed that the work did indeed seem to fix the problem.
The only thing that didn't sit perfectly was, the car had 5 additional miles on it after I picked it up... this in a rather urban area (congested, lots of traffic lights)... 5 miles seems like it could be a bit much... but not enough for me to complain about... I'll keep an eye on it next time though.
So that was my day. No more rattle, and car is nice and clean.
Thanks,
Matt
