Just got my Go Pro Hero2 camera in the mail. I'm heading to the track tomorrow and the top will need to be up.

Where is the best place to mount the camera inside an 03 vert?

I'm thinking of using the suction cup mount and placing it right between the two seats?

Any tips or advice for a new user?

Thanks in advance

What are you looking to record? Inside, or outside? Is it for yourself and enthusiasts, or for friends who just want to get a feel for the speed? I've got a vert, and had placement all over the car to try to find the right video.

Just some videos for me. I would like to get a view of the front end of the car going down the track, with me in the car so I can see how I'm shifting, post for friends to check out etc.

With a few extra accessories you can overlay your speedo, tach, G's, shift points etc. (see thread below). I believe you can also overlay google maps if not on the track (just started to learn about this stuff)

rw99 did a great job with his track video above :headbang:if I can figure out how to edit my track video, I'll post it but it doesn't have the overlay that Rich's does. Has anyone found a way to reduce the wind noise when using a GoPro, maybe an external fuzzy mic?

Are you guys using the suction cup mount all the time? I've seen the GoPros used on the sides and in the fascia area. Is the suction cup mount secure enough to do that or are you using the flat adhesive mounts on the paint?

Also, how is the stability when it's placed in the windstream?

I've put one of the stick-on mounts right by the sub box vent over my right shoulder. It gives a great view of everything and is the most helpful place in terms of watching your own videos and learning from them. I had a little too much to drink last night and left my car downtown, but I'll take a pick after I go get it later.

Here's a video showing the camera perspective.

Here's the mount. It's really not even that noticeable. The flash makes it stand out more than really does in natural light with the top down.

I guess you'll have to turn your monitor upside down. lol I don't know what's going on with uploading some photos here recently. It's right side up on my computer, and even if I flip it upside on my computer, it still posts upside down on here.

Yeah. I'm running Harry's Lap Timer. It works pretty damn well and gives you your lap times, G-forces, speeds at different points on the track, etc.
