I would like to know all my options on wheel and tire upgrades for 1995 r/t. Is there a big benefit to the size of the wheels and type of tires? It will be all street driven in dry climate, temps 50' to 80' year round. Mostly short trips. Best temps for type of tire driven like this? Daily quick blast over 100mph on way home (up hill). No flames please. Opinions on best looking rims. Does anyone have yellow car with black rims?(pictures please). This is an option I am considering. My rims will be for sale (3 spoke). They are 8.5 on scale of ten. Pictures on request. Anyone with Bridgestones on? Please email me with what you have for sale.
Thanks

Fikse will give 10-15% for a direct order which is the same as I saw a few other places - ended up buying mine used. The nice think about Fikse rims are that they don't have external facing bolts that make cleaning/polishing a pain. Definitely expensive - 1100-1400 each for front/rear (before discount), but on par with others.

IMO, unless you want to change cosmetics (appearance) or dimensions (width or diameter or weight), you are wasting a large amount of money to "upgrade" wheels. If you want to upgrade performance, then you will have to add tires to the equation, as the stock tires will not fit upgraded wheels. I have many, many track miles on 3-spoke wheels - they are the bargain purchase for track driving and 17" tires have plenty of performance.

I also doubt you will notice any improvement at all on the street with any change of wheel/tire. The 18" setups look great, but get ready to spend a minimum of $4000-$6000 to make this upgrade.

My street setup is plated 3-spokes and I actually like that better than any aftermarket I have seen on the GEN I cars. Usually I like the expensive stuff, but in this case I got lucky!

My track setup is painted 3-spokes and I did pick up a curb-rashed set of 18" stockers (still not cheap by normal car standards) and bought a couple of the last sets of G-Force R1A tires that can be had for $500 a set until they are gone.

Purner wheels seem to be the best deal for aftermarket, but you are starting at $2400 per set and then you have to add tires . . . .

Performance is not really a factor, I guess I am going for looks. Is anyone out there with 97-99/ 00-01 rims on a gen I. Do you have pictures?

I have 98 wheels on my black 94. It has been lowered an inch, and I think the combination looks good (although I *might* be biased)

I can email you additional pictures if you are interested.

I lowered the car w/ Eibach springs (you can buy from PartsRack for about $300, I believe). You really need to watch curbs, driveway entry/exit, etc., due to the lower front. Sure looks cool, though (biased opinion). You would also need to have the car properly aligned after lowering (to 95 specs, which really helps 94's). Getting the XGTZ's off the car really helped get rid of the "rut tracking" that early Gen I's are famous for. I have some before snapshots, but nothing on line - I just recently came out of the stone age and got a digital camera. Just emailed you some "after" shots.
