Hi VCA!
I have been visiting this forum for years, dreaming about the day I will be able to "Join the club". Well, that day is near.. Now the hard part, finding the Viper for me.

I am posting this thread in hope that you VCA members may assist me in finding the right one. I have been looking around only for about a month now and want to utilize all resources possible.

Here are the specifics I would like in MY Viper:

1999 GTS Silver w/Blue Stripes (I know this is rare) - or
1999 GTS Black w/Silver Stripes - Black interior - or
1999 GTS Solid Black- Black interior - or
2001 GTS Sapphire w/Silver Stripes - or
2002 GTS Graphite w/Grey Stripes - Black interior

ACR or just GTS
No more than 30K miles
Excellent condition
NOT heavily modified

In the years surfing this forum it is clear that the owners are usually very attached to their Vipers, probably even more so than any other car I know. I know it will be the same for me. I live in the Dallas area, so there is not really any winter season that would force me to put the Viper in storage, which means year round driving!

This is were I am going to graciously ask for your help. If you or anyone you know of is selling or about to sell a Viper that fit one of the above description, let me know.

I am talking to the the owner (Dick) of the 2001 Sapphire w/silver stripes in Virginia, so input from anyone that has been around this Viper is welcome.

Thanks in advance for any help you provide!
Tony

Sapphire is such an amazing color. :) Go for it. One thing to consider is...abs. If you want it in your viper then the '01 & '02 are the cars you are looking at. Either way... Good luck!

Yes,this is a good place for help in buying your Viper...in my case though i just got lucky :omg: Always loved 'em but never thought i'd actually own one(now two)...i was looking through CL one day trying to find a pickup and a 94 Viper popped up..i didn't know they were so affordable so i just went and bought it...bad idea as i knew nothing about them other than being cool as hell and fast...i even got the man to knock off 4k on the price..drove it home same day and i drove like a *****! The dude left to deposit his money in the bank and i left after him. I hate to admit it but i couldn't figure how to adjust the danged seat. The man was well over six feet and i am five nine on a good day...anyhow,i figured it out the next day.It seems you actually have to reach in front of the seat and pull a lever! Who woulda thunk it? :rolaugh:..Then a few months later,i bought a 99 GTS online and sent the man's money by cashier's check..I was lucky again as it shipped well and is a really nice one..my point? Listen to the smart people here and don't just buy the first one you see. I love both of mine, but again..'i just got lucky' Good luck! :2tu:

Thanks Musclenutz, I will heed your warning!

You did seem to get lucky and have a good story to go along with it. I've been looking for about a month now, driven a couple, and even fell in love once (seller backed out). I have time and want to make sure I get exactly what I want the first time..

I'm not sure I will have the same luck as you, so I am trying to be real careful! It's hard though, when you're ready to buy, have money in the bank, and all you can do is wait for the right car to come up for sale. I am focused on patience, patience, patience, and allowing myself to enjoy the excitement of the search, which could only make me appreciate my future Viper even more.

Thanks for the great advice.. I'm all ears!

I hope you find just the right Viper. I really didn't know much about Vipers because i never entertained the possibility i would actually ever have one. I have loved them since they first came out but was to busy buying old muscle cars and fixing them up to think i could actually afford one.Anyway, good luck!:2tu:

I might be conviceable since I am itching to get a Gen4 ACR. It's not a garage queen. Colorado roads have sand on them and Springtime has put tiny pits into the paint of the front end. Nothing a repaint won't cure. I'd also sell it with the OEM wheels/tires and keep the 6 spokes for the ACR street tires.

Upgrades

  • SRT big brakes/spare/SS lines
  • Anti-toe brackets
  • New front shocks
  • VIPAIR

    [*]Smooth Tubes

    [*]High flow filters

    [*]Belanger headers, CATs, CATback

    [*]T&D Roller rockers

    [*]Unitrax 800HP half shafts

[*]3.73:1 rear gears & speedo correction

    [*]Mopar high performance clutch

    [*]HID low beams and fogs

    [*]Tow hooks (front & rear)

    [*]SRT rear diffusers

[*]GTSR dive planes (painted body color)

    [*]1” seat lowering kit

[*]MGW glove box /w cup holder

    [*]MGW First Strike ****ter knob

    [*]MGW AC knobs

    [*]MGW Cigarette lighter knob

    [*]Venom sill plates

[*]Headlamp and fog lamp protection film

    [*]Tinted windows

    [*]Taillights red film covers

Great time to buy... good luck and happy hunting!

Silver w/ blue is rare... and black is tough to find in good shape as they show everything. I was looking for black, but couldn't find any priced right or in the shape I was looking for.

Re: Ready to sell!! NOT

Just came back from the gym and decided to take the Viper since I hadn't driven it in a week.
I changed my mind, I don't want to sell it. I just love everything about it. The obnoxious (in a good way) exhaust note, the way the car shakes at idle, the old school classic looks and all the thumbs up I get when driving this American classic.
:D

Sooooooooooooooooo, I am no longer willing to be persuaded to sell it, even for a Gen4 ACR. I'll just have to save longer and have both.

PM sent.

My ACR is/was for sale earlier this year but I wasn't very motivated. I kinda didn't even try and even turned down offers that I know are better than what I could get today. :crazy2:

I am ready to sell now.

01 Sapphire/Silver +-7100 miles. Details in PM.

THe 01 Sapphire is truly one of the most outstanding colors you can buy. I couldn't possibly be happier with my car, and have no interest in EVER selling the car. GOOD LUCK, the deals out there are crazy if you really look. i wont even say what i paid for my car people will not be happy.

Slightly off what you're looking for, but you could add blue stripes.

I want to start by saying thank you to all of you that have presented your Vipers to me for sale as I can imagine that it is not an easy thing to do with one of these cars.

I would also like to thank the members who gave me great advice to consider in my search, and a special thanks to Chuck Tator for going WAY out of his way to help someone he had never met or even talked to before.

Now the results of the search for MY Viper:
I am a proud owner of a 1999 GTS ACR Solid Blk/Blk with just under 20K miles.
It is bone stock with the exception of new tires, but does not even have tinted windows.

I bought it from Marv Rose in Fresno, Ca through consignment. I flew out there Wednesday night, and Marv picked me up from the hotel Thursday morning to go to his showroom. It was love at first sight, in excellent condition just as described. Completed the deal and enjoyed a few hours of shop talk with Marv, and was back at the airport and on my way home early afternoon. MY Viper was loaded in a trailer in Fresno, Ca this morning and should be home (DFW) by next weekend!

I will be becoming a member to this website shortly because it has been a good part of my Viper experience so far..

As for My Viper, I will post pictures as soon as it is home.. Needless to say.. I can't wait!

Congrats Tony, good choice going with a '99! :)
You'll have to come to the Texas Viper Round-up in 2011!
