Rear Caliper Mod vs. EBC Greens or Brakeman 3\'s?

OK, I've sold my OO RT10, and I'm going to be getting a 98 GTS within the next few weeks (depending on trailer driver's schedule). With my 00RT10, the stock brakes would lock up the fronts very quickly. When I added EBC Greens, I got less dusting, better modulation, but also less initial bite. I'm trying to decide whether to:

1) Go EBC's all-around
2) EBC's up front, with Brakeman3's in back to help brake bias

OR, I'm seriously considering going with the rear brake caliper mod that Tom has a available for $600 + core exchange. I'd go with the 38mm rear caliper, which should bring my brake bias to almost exactly the same as a front Stoptech Brake kit (Stoptech front caliper is smaller than stock front. Tom's mod is a bigger rear caliper, giving the same ratio of brake caliper area, but I think would make an overall better braking system than the Stoptech fronts only, since you'd have more total overall brake caliper area). Now, I'm talking stopping power here, and not brake fad resistance. The Stoptech fronts would probably be better for fad resistance.

I plan to auto-x the car a lot, and do a few track events here and there. Nothing major.

Anyone have any experiences with the above setups?

That's right, but Stoptech uses a bigger brake pad in front.

Good point. However, if I can spend $600 vs $2000 for the Stoptech fronts, I'll have to go that route :) Yes, I know the Stoptechs include new rotors, but I'll get there when I get there...

Depends on the class you're running in. Sounds like you're sold on Tom's setup which might be good for a "cheater setup" if you know what I mean. ;) Let us know how they work out.

I don't care for EBC for any type of track work, great dustless pad for street though. Brakemans are good. A lot of folks also like PFC-01.

Steve Pasztor 972-743-9443 GreatBrakes.com carries EBC. He might also carry Brakemans.

I have EBC's up front and Brakeman3's in the rear for the exact reason you described Achilles99. I like the setup, works very well for me on the street.

Chuck - I didn't even think about the class change. I'll just pretend I didn't hear you ;)

The EBC's would be GREAT, except their intial bite *****. If it weren't for the better modulation they give, I probably wouldn't use them. Brake dust *****, but running into the guy in front of you ***** worse.

96 - I'm glad you like the setup. I MIGHT consider doing that, depending on how much EBC fronts/Brakeman 3 rears cost. I have a feeling that it will be a negligible difference between that and the upgraded pistons/stock pads.

How badly do Brakeman 3's dust?

I have only had them on the car for the last 3 months, but they don't dust up bad at all. Of course, the EBC's are doing most of the work :D
