My 03 seems a little over geared. Anyone know the
details on available rear end gear swaps?
Think a 3:54 would be just the ticket.
I believe the rear end is a different system than
previous models.
Anyone know for sure what's the deal?

Paul the car is very much over geared in my opinion. The ratio is 3.07 as past cars were but, the tire size increased 1.3 inches, and that is a trememdous amount. Strangley enough the car does better than the former models. The 50 extra horses and the torque increase compensated a little. Not enough, yes a 3.54 or so would be great. I spoke to Jerry at unitrax about it and he said he is checking to see if there will be any problems with the computer. The clutch is a must to upgrade also. It won't last no time in this car with the gearing so tall, and the extra torque. That is if you like to sprint around in the car from time to time. I do, and I burn on the clutch every time I do a semi hard launch. I don't do to many of those. I like to punch it from a roll, gets the same thrill and saves the car.

And yes the car does have a torque biasing differential. That is great. I love the control this car has when you get on it hard. No comparison to the old Detroit trac loc. The car has in it what is similair to the Detroit True Trac, that is sold by Unitrax. I don't know why others that have these cars don't notice these needs and changes in this car. If they didn't have the former model than I guess they have nothing to compare it to.

What a brake system, Wow, never thought they would do so well.

Ok we all agree the SRT is gear challanged. So now what?
PVO has not offered the complete Differential Assembly as is available for the Gen 2. That was the only way to get a properly set up and quiet rear. I must have spent 3K in bad set ups until I bought a factory set up.
I remeber getting one from Fitzg#@^&% in '96 that "whined" so loud traffic got out of the way thinking a fire Truck was comming! The Fitz Tech told me "All performance rear ratios were like that." Had to get Legle help to get my money back.
Let me know what the "Hot"set up is.

PVO does offer a new rear end complete. It is the same as a Comp Coupe with a 3.55:1 ratio. The selling price is $ 2,800.00 for the complete diff. just R&R the stock set up. The unit is a tighter limited slip set up than stock and will only be a problem in tight parking lots. This is direct from PVO as it was told to me.

That sounds pretty costly to do. I'ts not that expensive to swap out the gears. Parts and labor should not be over $600.00 The car already has the so called Hydrolock, torque biasing diff in it, and I can tell you that it is a very different setup than what the former cars had. But if you are going on the track a lot then the Comp Coupe set up sounds great. There is that issue of a weak part in the stock diff that I sure would like to modifiy while I'm in there. Unitrax says there working on a modified replacement part.
