If you had a gutted cat and strait through muffler in the sils, what options would you have for the rear muffler? Or would it be better to run deletes in the rear and mufflers in the sils?

MadMaxx,
Your '96 RT/10 (STOCK EXHAUST), has straight pipes in the side sills behind the cats (no side sill resonator mufflers); this is unique to '96 RT/10. One of or members here replaced the rear muffler with straight pipes, thus giving him straight pipes from the cats back, keeping stock size, cats, and exhaust manifolds (no headers), and it is LOUD, I mean LOUD !!!

Maxx,
I did the muffler delete and I don't think it's loud, I was actually disappointed.

The stock diameter pipes and cats just aren't loud with the muffler gone, I'd hoped for a much louder exhaust note.
I don't know what loud is to some people but it isn't loud at idle in the least bit.
Cruising down the road it isn't loud, it isn't noticeable. It's loud when you gear down and let the RPM's slow the car as you get loud rumbling and pops making the exhaust note more pleasing, I like that.

If you like the note that the GT cars make gearing down on the track, you'll be happy with the muffler delete.

I'm going to get Sean Roe's Hi-Flo Ovals and run 3" straights out. The stock diameter pipes and cats just aren't loud like you would think. Now a Luxo-Car driver or what-not may think it's loud , but it's not.

If you got a little bit of gear head in you, you will like it but later on you'll be wantin to turn up the volume.

I have Sean Roes Hi Flo cats with my stock exhaust and it sounds nice. The Cats alone definitely made it louder. Not too loud ,just loud enough to be heard and I don't have to turn my Radio way up. Side sills are sooooo much cooler. It's funny to watch people roll down their windows to hear your car go by. I don't think the 10 horsepower I would gain with a cat back is worth the $1200 price tag. I think the cat is the most restricted part of a Vipers exhaust system besides I would be willing to bet I got a 10hp increase with these high flo cats. Save yourself the money. The Cats cost about $250. Its the best money I have spent so far.
