I have noticed a rearend noise when turning right at low speeds. This only happens for a few seconds and then stops but has been getting more frequent.

I have read the posts about changing out the rearend fluid and adding a friction additive.

I left it with my tech and he called yesterday saying the emergency brake calipers need replacing so I authorized him to do that. That is covered under warranty since the car only has 10,000 miles but I am wondering if that was really the problem.

Will see.

Typically the e-brake would not be affected by whether the car is in a turn. It is a known issue that the e-brake pads wear out somwhat quickly (due to pad drag) on these cars, but you still may have the noise issue while turning after the pads are replaced. Wait and see-- but I would change the rear end lube at 10k anyway.

Get the car hot, go to an empty parking lot and do low speed circles. If the noise becomes really bad it is more then Likely the clutches in the diff making the noise. Either the fluid has broken down or the clutches are damaged.

It just goes away within seconds.

I just picked the car up so we will see if my tech knew what he was talking about. I couldn't tell on the way home because at that speed you can't hear anything but the exhaust.

Good thing to keep an eye on - I didn't know the e-brake calipers/pads had issues.

By the way, my rearend makes a noise whenever someone pulls my finger. That's probably a different issue, though.
