I just purchased a 92' this week. The only apparent flaw in the car is that the dash seems very tacky and shows a fair amount of scratches....Is this common? Does anyone have a recommendation to clean and/or protect it?
Gen 1 vipers dashes are very easily scratched, alot of people end up preping their dash (ie, very light sanding) and then repainting it with a flat black finish. Do a search on the forum, I'm sure you will find something
Or you can buy a new one. Think the last one I bought was under $300. It's worth it if your dash is really banged up and you still want an original look.
I just got through refinishing the dash in my 95. I stripped it with EZ Off oven cleaner, sanded it, primed and painted it with flat black Krylon paint. It looks great.
LIGHT glass cleaner (get the clear one that Windex makes) and a cotton T-shirt will remove grime and spots. I've also had a lot of success washing the dash with mild soap and water, and using a dishwashing sponge to light lift dirt out. But for scratches you'd have to re-paint or replace, call John B. he got me door pieces.
