Removal of downstream sensors

What is the best way to remove the downstream sensors. I think they just pop off the plug that is in the exhaust pipe, but I don't want to risk breaking things for not having the right tool.
I am adding the cat delete simulators and I don't have the correct tool that would just pop the sensor off. What can I use to remove these...Would pliers work? Hammer..screw driver?!?!

Just use the appropriate open end wrench or a crescent wrench -
the O2 sensor is threaded into the exhaust *********.

I don't want to remove the whole plug, just the sensor cap on top of the plug that is threaded into the exhaust pipe. I'll just breakdown and get the special tool, I guess.
