illy, take heart. I had no trouble finding a '96 GTS in the low 50s. Two key points probably were:

1) I live in the Chicago area and we have a lot of Vipers here.

2) I was willing to take one with 15,000 miles.

I'm pretty sure all Vipers are CA legal...

If you are trying to resist buying a Viper you came to the wrong place.

The used value of the Viper is great in my opinion. Am trading in my 98' RT-10 for a 2001. My silver 98' is perfect with 7k. I will pay 15k tops with hard top on the new one plus some sales tax. Five grand per year for three great years is a great deal to me. I have been offered 55k cash. To me, this is the best value- holding car I have ever had. This much fun for that trade value is a bargain to me. If you want to cry, get into high-end stereo gear and watch your investment dissapear in 6 months.
