The weather turned out to be fantastic for this event and resulted in a great turnout, including several spectators from various other marques. We tested 13 vehicles, 9 of which were Vipers. Results:

'96 RT/10, 7,300 miles, tubes, K&Ns, tube headers, 3" Corsa cat back - 410.5 rwhp & 459 torque

'96 GTS, 20,600 miles, tubes, stock filters, aluminum flywheel, 3.73 gears - 406.4 rwhp & 444.4 torq. Side note: He did a 6th gear red line run and bounced the speedometer needle off the end point -over 220 mph!!

'97 RT/10 (blue/white), 8,900 miles, multiple mods (didn't get a list) and very loud - 465.5 rwhp& 491.9 torq

'97 GTS, 6,750 miles, tubes and K&Ns only - 429.4 rwhp & 467.3 torq.

'97 GTS, 5,100 miles, tubes and K&Ns only - 432.1 rwhp& 474.9 torq.

'99 GTS, 20,500 miles, K&N air box with cones, ported/polished heads, T&D roller rockers, Belanger headers, high flow cats, 3" Corsa cat back - 511.2 rwhp& 522.7 torq.

'02 FE GTS, 850 miles, bone stock - 414.5 rwhp& 453.6 torq.

'03 SRT/10, 570 miles, bone stock - 442rwhp & 483.4 torq.

'03 SRT/10, 573 miles, bone stock - 440.2 rwhp& 480 torq.

'00 Corvette C5 coupe, 30,000 miles, twin turbo package - 559.6 rwhp & 545.7 torq. Note: This white C5 is a sleeper - nothing to give you a clue about what it is hiding. He could (and probably has) embarrass a lot of Vipers.

'02 Z06, 1500 miles, bone stock - 362.3 rwhp & 357.4 torq.

'87 Supra turbo, 30,000 miles, K&N filter - 201.8 rwhp& 230.5 torq.

'02 Chev 2500HD Diesel P/U, 20,000 miles, Chip, exhaust, intake - 335 rwhp & 635 torq. at 3200 rpm

I have always been impressed with how strong the '97 GTS engines are and the numbers above prove it. This was a great event and I want to thank everyone who particpated. The staff at Carburetor Connection are great and I want to thank them for putting up with us.

Stock for stock, the 02 Final Edition was stonger than your 1996 GTS. All I can say is WOW!

Thanks for taking the time to post the results.

We have a dyno day set up for the 12 of next month. I post results too.

Very cool of you to post all the different #s - thanks a ton! Great stuff and those '97s are pretty stout right out of the box aren't they?

I keep kidding the wife that I'm going to sell the ZR1 and buy another snake to replace it...'97 sounds like a pretty good year.

(I'm mostly kidding about the Z...)

Thanks for posting Bob.

Looks like that first 96 GTS at just over 400 was dragged down with the 3.73s perhaps? Always a good debate on that one......

Do you happen to know what the FA ratio was for the above car, and if it was running a Mopar PCM?

ewave,
Sorry, I don't. I was too busy organizing and managing the event to get all of the details. I can find out for you or maybe have that person email you with details if you like. You can PM me and I will forward it to him.
Thanks,
Bob K
