Revolution Lifts

Hi all, To those of you with Revolution lifts, Does you lift have a loud low groan when lifting or lowering your lift?
I called Rotary and they stated that "that was normal with 110 volt systems."
so does sound like crap to you? or is it true?

I have a Revolution four post lift and I would not call the sound excessively loud. It does make a groaning sound, however.

Mine is just a hydraulic sound, in the very beginning (years ago) it had a moan sound as I recall.

I think at that point in time I wiped down the piston with hydraulic fluid (atf I think) and it helpled with the sound. I have a 110 volt system too.

I am getting ready to order a lift and am thinking about the Revolution Lift. Are you all happy with your Revolution Lifts?

I'm happy with the lift. It is built very well. You will feel safe under it and your car will be safe. Get the XLT because it is wider. the viper tires will fit centered fully on the ramps with room to spare and if you have other vehicles it will handle them too! if you get a groan out of it just do what Kevin did....atf the piston.
Make sure you get the extended ramp instead of standard. My wife and i were able to install it ourselves, you will just need 4 strong people to lift it off your trailer. if you pick it up. and you will need a 16 ft trailer.
don't pay full price....they will deal with you.

I love my revolution lift. bought it last year and never regreted once my choice. only regret was not buying it sooner. oh, and my lift is 110 too and it groans like the rest but it isnt anything to be concerned with. Mine was professionally installed and adjusted so I knew it was perfectly safe. bolted to the floor too which looked like a project to do unless you have the proper drill and bit. Go for it. you will love it.

I too am planning to purchase a Revolution lift in the spring but don't have the room for the XLT. Will the standard sized version work with a 2006 SRT-10? I am concerned after what Harleyman expressed. Feedback please.

I just called revolution... The price was quite a bit higher than what I expected (3800). I currently have a cytech (which I've had 5 years with no problems), but need another due to the 08 arrival. I've reached out to Dobson (no reply to PM), called Cytech (I think they're out of business, even though I talked to them a few months back, but I'm cautious). There's also an old post in the members section around a VCA BendPac deal (Fred Kinder, sent him a PM as well).

Ugh, I dunno what to do now... Since 08s are coming, anybody see a group deal coming up (in time for the new cars!). I have to be careful, low clearance (9'2") and need a narrow one (2 lifts in a 2 car garage). Don't give me crap, I'm building a new garage sorta soon

I am here. Sorry about that. I did not even notice that I have PM's.

If your lift is squeeling, you can add Lucas modify to the ATF fuild. The "groan" sound is pretty normal. It is the sound of the pump.

I am around car lifts every day. I would not get under a lift that was not ALI certified. You have a lot of choices. My first choice is Rotary/Revolution. Second would be Bend-Pak.

I don't know of any other manufacturer that has a Double-catch system. With Rotary/Revolution, if the cable breaks while in motion, the car will not fall. With all the other lifts it will.

Look at the shipping weight alone, the Revolution is 500 to 1000 pounds heavier than the imported lifts = higher quality materials.

Since I started selling these lifts a few years ago, my cost has gone up over $1000 each. It is difficult to compete with imported lifts selling for $1800. I wish you could see the lifts side by side. You get what you pay for.

I have friends with these "imported" lifts. I won't walk under them, let alone do any work on a car on one. They make me way too nervous.

The August issue of Robb Report featured my garage and the Revolution lift.

With Rotary/Revolution, if the cable breaks while in motion, the car will not fall. With all the other lifts it will.

A car will not fall in the event of a catastrophic cable or hydraulic failure with a BackYard Buddy lift, among the best, 'home' lifts available. It's freestanding, does not require bolting to the floor, and can be moved around the garage with the optional wheels.

I completely agree with comments about cheap lifts. With cars lifts as well as parachutes, buy the best.

Wow!. the 2006 must be higher ground clearance my front is the lowest point 3 3/4" if i did not have the extended ramps i would scrape....i just miss the ramps by a hair.

I am getting real interested in the Revolution lift. My Ceiling is 8.5' and I have a garage door opener that takes up 13.5" from the ceiling and door rails that are 7' 5" from the ground. It looks like I should raise the rails and remove the garage door opener. Any thoughts? I do not see any need to go to the XLT model with my roof height unless someone knows better. My garage length is 25'.

My "buddy" no pun intended has a backyard buddy and it was not bolted to the floor and set on top of race deck. one day he went to drive up on it and the front tires pushed the entire lift into the back wall of his garage almost giving him a rear exit . for what it takes to bolt down, you have to be nuts to not just do it. I had mine done and the piece of mine is WELL WORTH IT.

They make a garage door opener that mounts on the front wall and connects to the tortioner bar. Also, they can run the rail up high to the ceiling to reduce how far back into the garage the door and rails will go giving you more open space. I just ordered my revolution lift with extended ramps today. They are backed up six weeks for production so I should get mine mid November.

I like your tile floor. What is it and how does it hold up? Your garage looks great.

Interesting, I've probably driven on one of my lifts 250 times, and driven on my newer lift 100 times, neither has moved 1/4" from where they were originally installed in the time I've owned them. Is racedeck the semi hollow slick plastic raised floor covering that pops together? I'm not sure it would be a good idea to have any lift sitting on top of that.

Agreed; so long as the revolution lift is on a solid surface such as concrete or epoxy coating, you should not need to bolt it to the floor (although the revolution pads do allow for that). The only time my lift has moved is when someone has slightly grazed or pushed a post with a car. If you order the caster kit, you can literally roll the lift around with one person to reposition it or move it to an entirely different location.

I like your tile floor. What is it and how does it hold up? Your garage looks great.

Thanks! The flooring tiles are 12"x12" 1/8 thick VCT. Made by Tarket. I have about 5 coats of wax on it. Its very easy to keep clean ,(just mop) I laid the tiles in groups of 4 to make a 4'x4' pattern. In a large garage it does not look busy.
It holds up great! one thing.....a floor jack with steel wheels will dent the floor so you if you need to use one you just lay a thin sheet of steel under it and its just fine. you can get the tiles wholesale for about .67 a piece. and very easy to install using Henry's thin spread. Make sure you scrape the floor with a razor blade scraper so that floor is clean and smooth. the tile has little color spots in it so it is very forgiving on keeping the floor spotless. If you stain it.just use fine steel wool and it comes right off. If you damage a tile just take it out and scrape floor and replace with new tile. Grocery markets use the same product and they hold up to lots of traffic,hand trucks and dollys moving product in and out of the store. I keep little carpet squares where the tires rest after coming into the garage. some hot tires will leave a mark on the tile. some do.....some don't. so i just play it safe.
grease and oil cleans right up with paper towels and windex.
Make sure you wax the floor!!!! VCT does not come with any way on the surface and make sure you install the duller side down!
Install all black tiles turned the same direction and the white tiles same direction . one color should be turned 90 degrees from the other. that make the smaller tiles appear like one large square and keeps the tiles running straight. good luck
