Ride Height Question

I was washing my stock 97 GTS tonight and I noticed that the left rear seemed to be setting a little lower than the right rear. So I busted out the tape measure. The left (28 1/2 inchs) was just over half an inch lower than the right (29 inches). Any ideas? I don't know much about the stock shocks/springs. Do they need to be replaced? Can they just be adjusted? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

if the ground you are parked on isnt level- it wont be measured right in the level. just a slight diff will throw off the measure.you have to have a perfect slate to measure off of.

The place to measure ride height ACCURATELY is from the ground to the frame. Bodywork is worthless as a reference.

What he said. Measure in front of rear wheels and behind front wheels at the frame.

Also. if you had a choice you would build a little stiffer spring on the RR to compensated for the engine torque to equalize traction. Chrysler invented "Bias controlled" Super Stock and Pro Stock leaf springs for this reason. Mopar musclecars lost traction when traction bars were installed because the leafs worked so well. Mopars never had wheel hop problems because the rear axle was mounted forward on the springs. GM put their rear axles in the middle and all their experimental multi, single and triple springs were why traction bars were sold. The traction bars stopped wheel hop, but Dodges always left harder and faster because of the springs. The right spring came with 2 half leaves totalling 1 more spring than the Driver's side. This gave equal ride softnesswhile allowing a stiffer front segment for traction control. Dodges always left equal length black marks on the road.

My GTS has Eibachs and the car being lowered it has equal height on both sides. ACRs are adjustable.
