Has anyone considered changing the gear ratio in order to increase the 1/4 mile performance. I remember a previous article in a popular car magazine that liked almost everything about the car except the gear ratio chosen by Dodge. I am not interested in going 200 mph and prefer acceleration. I see a set of gears from Parts Rack at 3.55 and another set of 3.73. Does anyone know if these gears will work on the SRT? Would this alteration effect the warranty on the car? How much of an improvement in 1/4 times would one expect from the change of gears? Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Having to do with gears on the SRT-10 vs. the old Vipers, you may find this of interest, I did.

After logging a little under 200 miles on the SRT now, I must say the 50hp is quite evident. WHY, you ask?
Well, it is because of the low-end torque and extra 50 ponies. I have now owned 3 new Vipers and have changed rear gears in the 2 previous RT-10's to .354 rear gears. In those GEN II Vipers, that mod was A LOT of FUN (but baby, you do eat tires!)
My impressions are that when pulling away from your driveway, a stop sign, or whatever, I swear to god it feels JUST like my .354's. Totally effortless and responsive, and easily detectable if you have logged many miles behind the wheel of a Viper.
I am very surprised that no one else has yet brought this up in their "driving reports". It feels so GOOD, that I really don't think changing gears is any benefit at all; EXCEPT to Slalom and "short" tight turning course racers (autocrossers?). I DO NOT mean to take business away from our tuner friends here! It is just MY opinion.
Do any of you agree with my opinion on this? Man, keeping the rubber from spinning is tough as it is in ANY Viper.
Let me know what you think!
