I drove my Viper yesterday and it started missing, I pulled the plugs, all were clean except for the passanger side rear plug, closest to the firewall on the passanger side, is this #10? It was black as night, the plug was fouled out way bad. I thought Sean installed the new firmware on my car 2 months ago when my car was in his shop so I don't think that fixed the problem with #10.

does anyone have a photo of the bottom of roe SC before install? why does 9 and 10 cylinders have problems? as you all know i have had detonation problems forever and it seems like it just cant go away. does detonation happen from it being lean like too much air going into the cylinder or cause of too much fuel in 9 and 10 cylinders? my detonation sounds like its coming from the back end of the motor which i would assume its cylinder 9 and 10.

I can honestly say I don't know what detonation sounds like in my car.... I've never experienced it. You shouldn't be driving your car with it that way! Get it fixed or your only going to cause more damage to your engine. Too much or too little fuel can cause problems to.

The soot problem was fixed with the latest firmware. However just loading it did not fix the condition on 9 and 10. I reduced the fuel injector pulse offset (fuel options page) by .2 on those cylinders. The soot is gone.

D have you installed a wide band A/F monitor? Without data from a street pull that includes A/F we can't be of much help.

As most people know, there is an air restriction on the #10 cylinder with the Roe setup. That causes the cylinder to run extremely rich compared to the others. Rich enough that the plugs foul out and the cylinder is dead in my case. What I don't know is if the airflow changes much between vacuum and boost conditions and therefore if you treat the vacuum conditions you are harming the boost conditions. A black plug doesn't bother me, a dead cylinder does.

Curious how most people are dealing with this?

1) Continue to lean out that cylinder with the individual injector trims until it no longer fouls the plug. I know some people on here like Schulmann are taking that approach, but not sure how successfully. I have backed my trim down to -1.0mSec, but it has not seemed to make any difference. I would hate to run that cylinder lean under boost conditions if the airflow is different.

2) Run a hotter plug in that cylinder. If so what plug? I have heard that some may be running the stock plug in that location.

3) ?

If the problem is airflow to the cylinder, HOW is reducing the fuel to the cylinder FIXING the problem??

Wouldn't a fix be to increase the airflow so it matches the other 9 cylinders?

Runner length effects #10.

Dimitrios, how much timing are you running? I assume you are at 0 at most.

Ian, Do you have the Roe software? If so, I will sent you a Roe W/M tune with a timing curve that will fog your brain.

cars that have no SC will have the problem w/ #10. it has nothing to do w/ the blower. I've seen it on 3 non-SC cars and a few SC cars. Firmware upgrade fixed it on ALL of them.
