HAS ANYONE HAD ANY BAD EXPERIENCES WITH THE ROE SUPERCHARGER. ARE DETONATION PROBLEMS OCCURING. HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT THEY ARE BURNING OIL OUT THE EXHAUST OR NEEDING TO ADD ENGINE OIL DUE TO COMPENSATE FOR OIL BURNING OFF DUE TO STRESS ON THE ENGINE OR PISTON RINGS.ALSO ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ? DOES ANYONE HAVE A CAR WITH THE SUPERCHARGER INSTALLED FOR 10,000 MILES OR MORE?
i AM INTERESTED IN INSTALLING ONE ON MY VIPER BUT FEAR ENGINE DAMAGE, OR JUST AS BAD,PROBLEMS WITH IT RUNNING RELIABLY, AND CONCERN ABOUT WHETHER IT WILL PASS N.Y. EMISSIONS i CAN BE EMAILED AT [email protected] THANKS FOR ANY FEEDBACK BEFORE I PERFORM SURJERY ON MY BABY. ONE MORE ITEM, DOES THE UNIT CREATE EXCESSIVE HEAT UNDER THE HOOD,OR CAN THE UNIT MELT THE PAINT OFF MY SIDE SILLS, THAT I HAVE HEARD HAS OCCURED WITH SOME AFTERMARKET EXHAUSTS.ALSO DOES THE HEAT CREATED BY THE COMPRESSION OF THE INCOMMING AIR GET COOLED PRIOR TO ENTERING THE ENGINE, AND CAN THIS HEATED COMPRESSED AIR EVENTUALLY LEAD TO ENGINE FAILURE?

1. There have been some detonation and ck engine light issues, there is temporarily a fix with a MSD retard and when the vec2 ships out all problems with detonation and ck engine lights will be taken care of.
You can't expect to pump boost into an engine with stock fuel and timing and not have detonation, so it is normal without some changes.
2. Burning or using oil because of a blower is a non issue. You will have a little more blow by from the crankcase and out whatever system you choose to take care of crankcase ventilation from your valve covers. It should not need oil added between changes unless you are tracking the car a lot.
3. 10,000 miles might be a little much seeing as these s/c's haven't been out but a few months. I have about 2000 miles on mine including one mountain drive over two days that was 500 miles and two different drag days. The rest was daily driving.
4. The blower does not burn side sills. It is the air/fuel mixture being off at idle that causes the cats to heat up. This should be ok with the vec2. I have only heard of this with three cars. Mine was one of them and I let it get to hot sitting and idling.
5. Engine damage should not be an issue if everything is done correctly. If you install this s/c with an msd or the vec2 it will be fine. Put boost or n02 into any engine without consideration of the a/f and timing and there could be problems. Reliability with the Roe s/c will not be a problem, I feel confident that I could drive anywhere and any distance in my car and be fine.......and it is pushing 53,000 miles.
6. At 5 to 8 psi boost with the proper tuning the heated air will not be an issue. This is a screw type blower and is very efficient compared to other s/c's and does not heat the air near as much. Read this whole article...the kenne-bell/autorotor is the same as the Roe s/c. Pay attention to the difference in air temps and efficiency. With the exact same pully sizes the autorotor made 2+ psi more boost at a lot less air temp.
Compared to the eaton roots type:

There is tons of info on that site.
Underhood temps are going to depend on how you run the car....just like now. You run it harder and it is going to be hotter. Maybe more with any s/c or n02 because hp = heat but nothing that will cause damage.
7. Emissions...maybe someone else will chime in. Sean is working on Cal. stuff whatever that is. I have never had to deal with emissions testing here and am very thankful. I believe a move would be in order for me.
To sum up: There are a few more posts going on now on this board about the Roe s/c and the up coming vec2....you need to read them. If you want ZERO problems don't do anything to your car. Leave it totally stock. I would suggest for your piece of mind give everybody a chance to get the vec2 on and some more miles on the cars. That should be a couple of months. Oh, and please turn your caps off.
