The typical air / fuel meter characteristics are:
- Start up and for the first 30 seconds or so while the engine and O2's are warming up the LED will be Blue (rich).
- Once it heats up, the PCM goes into closed loop and the meter begins to cycle.
- As you approach full throttle, the PCM goes into open loop and the meter will stop scrolling and stay steady / move slowly.
The meter is converting the output voltage of the oxygen sensor to a colored LED. If the display is showing lean, that's the voltage the oxygen sensor is putting out. We have seen cars show lean when they're fuel filters begin to get clogged and injectors become dirty (higher mileage Vipers generally). The meters have also shown when an Oxygen sensor is bad or going bad, as the meter will not move as much or moves slowly.
I'd suggest you turn the knobs to 0/0 and see what the display does. From there, adjust as per the directions. If the car and or meter are not doing what's expected, begin looking for a reason. Call or e-mail if you need further help.
