The NHRA just dropped the requirement for rollbar and cage for 2008 and newer unaltered street car coupes running faster than 11.50

Interesting. Any other details? Dropped completely or is there a new limit? What constitutes an alteration?

I read that yesterday but I also read that it is for a bone stock car....drag tires, intakes, headers, etc means you need a cage. Is this your understanding or did somebody mis-read the NHRA's new ruling?

I hope it's true, haven't been to a drag strip since I ran an 11.55 with a 1.85 sec 60' time. I'll definately go back if the new rule allows for exhaust upgrades, etc. without a cage.

Cheers,
George

Right now there are no limitations. Go to "Dragzine", that is a drag race email newsletter. They have a write up.

I kinda figured this was coming, as the 11.50 rule was set up quite a few years ago, I believe because of the Viper. I was hoping it would have included my car, but hey realistically a GTS is not set up to run that fast from the factory. It seemed silly that a car that is certified from an OEM was not allowed down the dragstrip without additional equipment. Gotta love the NHRA for keeping up with the times.
