I was looking through the illustrated upgrades, and saw a writeup for a shiftlight. Is the RPM sensing wire the same in a 2001 GTS as in the writeup? If anyone has the 2001 GTS service manual and could look it up to verify, that would be great. I'm testing out a new shiftlight, and if it works the vendor said they'll do a group buy for the VCA. It's pretty small, and doesn't require the ARMCO controlling unit. It's all self contained, doesn't require RPM pills, and is fully adjustable (up to 19k RPMs, and any cylinder engine).

Thanks!

Sounds pretty cool! please post the details when you have a moment.

I hooked up my shift light to the PCM. 3rd harness, port #31. Grey b/ a light blue stripe. Don't use a quick-connect splice thing... solder it. trust me on this one. the tach is extremely sensitive.

Good luck!

Thanks Steve! I don't think I ever knew about the other forum... I always stuck with this one!

JD - I'll post pics of the install when I'm finished. The shift light is a tube about the size of a Lifesavers roll, and has 7 (I think) bright LED's on it.

Since the tach wire looks like it's different, I'm assuming the 12V switched and the Ground wire is different on the 2001 PCM as well. Does anyone know which wires those are (and by anyone, I mean you Steve :) )? Thanks!

For power, just grab switched power anywhere. I use a tap into the same source I have my V1 on. But you didn't ask me... you wanted Steve.

AWWW, come on JD, you know me better than that :)

Actually, I need to tap the 12V switched as well as ground in the same location (PCM) as the tach wire. The shiftlight I have has all three wires bundled together for 10 feet until the last 3 inches or so. I'd like to keep them relatively together (my V1 is tapped into the interior fusebox location, so that wouldn't work).

So, I need someone with a 2001 GTS Service manual to tell me which wire on the PCM are the 12V switched and which is a ground. Thanks!
