David - This looks great! How are the sponsorships coming?

Any idea how "strict" this track will be on saftey equipment? I got the roll bar installed this weekend but the side bars are gonna be a b*tch. I may not get to them in time for the event...

Is this an index system with a .5 below breakout rule like Tom ran in Columbus? What other venues are you planning? Do you want to make the Viper Nationals in Norwalk, one of the stops? Need more info on format. I'm a little concerned we are heading for bracket racing with no incentive to tune and drive to the peak of your modifications. Tell me more>

Thats the best way to do it. Now everyone can just pick where they belong regardless of mods and tires. I suggested this a while back. Now if I can just make it to this event. Sounds like a good one. Busy time of year for me when snowbirds come to Florida.

absolutely we want the columbus stop to be part of the series. we are looking to go to florida at the end of Jan or begenning of feb. back to KY in late april early may somewhere like indy or st louis and then to columbus.

we are not heading for bracket racing!!! trying to even up the classes. so there is not the usual argument over Mods!

there might be a grace period on first round only after that you break out you loose. this will eliminate sandbagging!

If the right people get involved we will turn this into a full blown series with points and have a Championship series based on points and so forth. In order for this to happen we need a big turn-out!

Mike
ALot of folks from Florida are making the Trip you just need to get on the train with them. alot of fun!

Norwalk David, in Sept. Ohio has many opportunities for several events. Mopar Nationals in Aug. Bad thing there is it's too crowded with 1200 other cars, car show and swap meet. Jim Belinda hasn't encouraged Vipers since Dodge stopped funding them in 2001. The new Neo Classic which Jeff Johnson started this year is the week after in Columbus. This was the first year (was on ESPN2 Saturday 12:30) Vipers could be a major part of this event and have TV and unlimited runs, plus an AutoX. In Sept Norwalk is the place. The Ohio VCA needs to be involved in the Ohio events and will potentially Fund part of the purse.

Rules?? This format doesn't reward performance. It's like the Super Classes in NHRA. A good driver in the middle of a bracker will choose the slower index and brake light to a win. I though you were refining the rules descriptions from last year. I think we narrowed and defined Mod 2 very well at Norwalk. We didn't prohibit anything we couldn't check visually.

The indexes are fine and if that brings cars Great. But this all started with the complaints of NO Bracket Racing. You basically have an Unlimited Class with the 9.49 and quicker. I'd suggest a one power adder Mod2 class. And see how the rest plays out. Maybe a Top Eliminator with all the class finalists for $1000. Ohio will fund that at Norwalk.

Paul:

You have a valid point, bracket racing doesn't fit the viper image. Following your format, or a slightly refined version we would have head-to-head competition based upon the car and driver. The Norwalk format rewarded you for getting the most out of your car. In my opinion when you use the brakes to win a race you defeat what we are all trying to achieve.

It is so simple:

Gen 1 - Stock with Pilots

Gen 2 and SRT - Stock with Pilots

All models - bolt-ons and no power adders (I added this)

All Models - 1 Power Adder (no direct port)

UnLimited

Note that I didn't include any class for street tires, ala drag radials. The drag radials such as the BFG's have become so good there is not a huge difference between them and the ET's

In ending there are so many different opinions

I am working on soem bugs for the format. Just stay with me! Paul count september in the series for sure.

we will make this a success. Just have to work hard together! Tuners can chime in here if they like!

We need strong car counts as well as strong support from vendors in which I am getting a great response.

Roof,

While I haven't met you yet the work you do towards promoting Vipers appears to be outstanding. I live in NE San Antonio, about 15 minutes from the strip and if the Dyno day is at Dynojet I'm about 2 minutes from there. Anyway, if you need a place to stay and a garage to house the Viper while in town let me know, you're more than welcome at the house. Pool and sauna included, but no room service.
