Sad day. Sold my Viper

[GTS Bruce]

It has been a life enriching and pleasurable experience to have been here for around 12 years now. I would like to thank my friends at VCA Ontario. Vca in general. Chuck Tator, Dan Lesser for advice and help over the years.
I drove the 2 new gen 5 in Charlotte as many of you did. Its an improvement over previous generations. I found the pricing stiff for what it was and wasn't going to allow someone to lowball my car as a trade in. I had a deposit down and took it back.
So I just bought a Ferrari 575M Maranello for less money than a new base GTS would cost. It has the F1 paddle shifting trans,traction control, launch control,daytona seats,electronicaly adjustable shocks, every possible interior option including carbon fiber. It is easier to get in and out of the car. Roomier for occupants and luggage. The motor sings Opera. Has been give complete up to date service every year at a Ferrari dealership. They will put a new set of rubber on it gratis. It has 3000 miles on it. Yes three thousand.
There are garage queens out there for the taking be it Viper,Aston Martin,Ferrari,Lambo,etc.. If its has to be a Viper than go for it or decide what else you would like to drive and watch fo it. Have a couple of grand to send out to nail it down and you are on your way.

I can't get over the amount of $ the Ferrari's and Lambo's cost for simple tune ups as opposed to the Viper. I guess I'm just not at the baller status yet. Good luck and have fun with the new ride!!

Make sure you have fire insurance on that thing... Ferrari's are prone to spontaneous combustion.

But seriously... a Ferrari 575M Maranello? As far as I'm concerned, it's a plain looking Ferrari.... if anything, I would have went with the California... a 2010 California with only 3,500 miles on it sold on eBay last week for $125,000.... so yeah, I'd get that WAY before the Maranello... but to each their own.

Great car and really good looking! I saw one here in Denver recently in white but it had Scuderia like rims on it. I am not a dark color rim fan but boy did that combination really wake that particular car up. It did look mean!

Whatever you have, eventually you will get bored and try something new. Unless you are one of those that can afford multiple cars like this, you eventually got get rid of one thing to get another.

Ferrari's are one of those cars on most people's bucket list, so awesome!

As for price, I agree with other posters - while the price of admission may be the same, the SERVICE costs are astronomical! No idea about Maranello service though. The engine is in the FRONT, so that is a big saver right there. I hear stories of dropping the entire engine from rear mount cars to do minor service... at huge costs.

No way, Californias are fat, bloated, ugly. The 575 Maranello is gorgeous and I'd bet money that it'll be a future classic and value will soar (as in - I'd BUY one if I could, but it's not within my means).
