John "SSpeed Racer" Dearing and I made it to TWS today for the Viperdays Fiinals and got to see the new Pilot Sport Cup tires Michelin is testing this weekend for the Viper. They "look" great, an 80 treadwear. Very shallow and racer friendly designed tread. I'll try and eves drop on the proformance reports and post.

Oh yeah, WEST COAST VIPERS RULE!!!!!!!!!

Good to read your post Ron. I was asking the Michelin guys on the stand at VOI about Sport Cups for the Viper and was told they don't make the them in Viper sizes! This is what UK Michelin told me also when I enquired a few months ago. ...But, now I know they are in the 'pipe line'! I was impressed with the tire, the Porsches have been using them in the UK, and it looks good. My Viper needs them, especially with Roes SC now!!

They are DOT leagal race tires like Hoosiers,I am trying them out 11/01 on my racing porsche, but from early indications the Hoosiers are faster , the pilots are supposed to last longer & fall off less than the Hoosiers. According to the Michelin reps they will make a good driving day tire. I think for all out performance , the hoosiers are still king. I was given the set of pilots so I will trash them & let you know the results. On looking at them, there is considerabkle thread depth so I amsure they will need to be shaved for max performance & wear.

Will only be in the 18" rim sizes for the Viper. 315 up front 345 in the rear only. From what was stated this weekend in Texas.

The tread design was interesting. The outer 1/3 reminded me of the Yokahama 008, the inner 2/3 was a cross between a Pirelli Asymmetrico and a Gatorback.

Time to buy new wheels.

PS - Alan, I think your new name should be "HoosierMuddy"

Tom didn't you see Ron go off track??? He did a big spin coming out of the U-turn. I think that's the first time I have ever seen him off track!!! I think he was pushing his car over the limits of adhesion trying to take down Nancy Stein!!!

Also we did make it home safely with a few detours.....like Ron in such a hurry that he would not stay behind me and missed the exit in Austin.... I had to wait 45 minutes for him to get turned around!!!
