Just got my 2001 RT/10 yesterday, and pleased to join the list of Viper owners!

My car is not perfect, like me she's had a bit of a life - the driver's door won't stay open, some of the window seals look a bit worn, and there are touch up places on the paint, but hey, I'm a little frayed around the edges myself because life does that to you. And since I plan on driving my car, a showroom beauty wouldn't stay pristine too long anyway.

I'm in NE Texas, think Longview, Marshall and Tyler - anyone know of a good place out here to look after the car and fix some of those little "features" as mentioned above? I'll also have more questions as we go, this is the first un-sensible car I've owned, everything else has been automatic and designed for family life so I know I have a lot to learn and I hope to find folks here welcoming and ready to remedy my ignorance!

Congrats on the new addition! Drive to College Station this weekend and hook up with Archer Racing at the NARRA event, they can check/fix what's wrong with any mechanical issue. Have some driver instruction and track fun while you are there! Enjoy!

Congrats on getting an RT/10! Where did you find your RT?

There is a ton of information on this site, and the "How-To" section is a good place to see what others have done with their Vipers.

First things first, read up on the many threads about old tires. Have fun!

Thank you all for the welcome and info! Glad to say that while the Viper isn't in pristine show condition, new tires are one of the things it did have (along with polishing up the chrome on the wheels, Belanger headers that I'm told are ceramic but don't know more than that, an exhaust that I haven't been told anything about other than that it isn't stock any more, smooth tubes that I noticed myself but don't know what they are - oh and a different sound system put in, but that's a bit pointless, the only music I need just now is the sound of the car itself.) Driver instruction and track time would be awesome, as I think it would make me better on the road (the more you know your car the better, plus, it's better to experience it at extremes when you expect it than have the first experience at the edge when you don't expect it.)

I found this one in Dallas, at a place called Metrocrest Sales, previous owner traded it in for an '04 they told me, and the mechanic who told me what I know about the mods said he knew the owner and that he'd taken care of it - mostly seems to be little details that are the only thing it suffers from. I'm going to slowly lavish some love on her where she needs it and work on those though!

Congrats on the new ride. That is a beautiful color. Be sure and get a feel for that beast before you get frisky in it. Remember its a snake and it WILL bite.

Congrats! What a beautiful color! I'm sure you are now suffering from the same Problem as many of us on here do, the permanent smile syndrome!!! Haha!

Read through the threads on here and don't be afraid to ask questions or start new threads with your questions as some of those end up being the best and most helpful threads on this site. I think you will find most people on here to be extremely helpful and welcoming. Just remember to tread your Viper with the respect that she deserves and she will keep you alive.

Welcome to one of the best and most exclusive clubs in the world!

Thank you to the new welcomers (is that even a word?) feels like I have found a comfortable home-from-home. Currently reading, reading, reading and enjoying it, so much to learn - and I'm also driving, driving, driving when I get a chance as I need to rack up experience in the snake and learn to understand her. And yep, doing that VERY cautiously.

Permanent smile for sure! Not to mention, can't go anywhere anymore without allowing extra time for talking to people when they see the car. Oh, and increasing my thick skin and increased ignore-ability for all those people in other types of vehicles that seem to want to race ;)

Congrats the car is beautiful. I loved my RT, I miss it very much I will have another RT. You learn to quickly ignore ever guy in a car that wants to race whether is be a Camaro or since we are in Texas, an F250....
Take care of the Snake and it will take care of you.

Totally agree on the ignoring issue - after all, I own a Viper, I'm happy, so I have nothing to prove :) If I want to do some racing, I'll do it on a track (but that would be a long way off.) Hope you get yourself that next RT soon!

Welcome aboard, nice choice in Vipers :2tu: If you can make it, it sounds like we have about 50 Vipers signed up for the Texas Round-up this year, that' d be a good opportunity to meet some fellow Viper Texans. Hope to see'ya there!

Heres some info on this years event,

Might be nice to caravan down to Austin with several North Texas members :headbang:

Welcome, I've just sent you an email, with our latest newsletter that I am mailing today. I figured as our newest member, you should get the newsletter before anyone else has seen it. It contains a lot of referalls etc. but also has our events and contact information.

A funny note, I was working with someone else to buy that very same car. Went to see it once, it was priced VERY well, so you did well I think. 01 Sapphire blue RTs are pretty rare, and you're one of only 2 of that year/color in our club (other is a coupe, wait that one got wrecked), ok so you're one of one :)

Anyway, I remember that feeling like it was yesterday, I HIGHLY recommend a NARRA event, or Driver's Edge, or Apex, I can honestly day it saved my life from myself...

See you at an event!!

Thanks for all the new welcomes! Thanks for the info Greg, yes the price was awesome I felt, gives me a sense of reassurance that someone else has looked it over too (someone who knows more about what they are looked at than me, at that!) I had heard when I was working with the dealership that someone else was interested, might have been whoever you were working with - I hope they find a Viper for themselves soon too, kinda feel bad about that, but it was a must-have for me. Appreciate the early newsletter, I'll be reading that today!

Once I have a bit more of a feel for the car under regular conditions I'll get myself booked into one of those events and really start learning about it :)
