I just received my SCT tuner to reprogram my computer in my 06 Coupe from Sean Roe. The maps Sean produced are for 91, 93, and 94+ octane. In my area of the country it is harder to find 93 or better fuel. I was wondering if anyone has opinions on using an octane boost with their fuel to raise the rating? I would like to run the hottest map from Roe? Any advice would be appreciated!

Define better fuel? How hard is it to get 93? I don't think 91 + an octane booster will enable you to use the 93 program. Most octane boosters raise octane by fractions of an octane point (usually between .2 and .5) rather than full octane points (or whatever they call it). I wouldn't do the "listen for ping" test either. Any knock is bad knock regardless of how long you are experiencing it. You could make your own, more potent octane booster, out of certain chemicals found at paint supply stores, but that again is use at your own risk.

Do a google search for Torco octane booster. It works well, but for the couple of degrees of increased timing between the maps, IMO its not worth messing with. You are probably talking about 30rwhp here. Not enough to be mixing Torco.

I received my SCT from them some time ago with a 91 and 93 flash. We have nothing higher than 91 here unless you run race fuel or booster so I emailed them and they recommended running the 93 flash and if the car pinged, then put in the 91 flash. So far, the car's been on the 93 flash without a problem. I only switched back to stock to get it through smog inspection.
