I bought a sct tuner off eBay and just tried to install in car it said wrong vehicle return to stock, does this mean they never removed tune out of the car before they sold it. Also if that is the case can I just take it to roe and have them program it. Ive also heard that the tuners are vehicle specific to the vin and if thats the case can I just call sct and have them change it to my vin. Any help would be appreciated so I know to move forward with process of getting my money back.

I believe the previous owner did not return his car tune back to factory leaving the SCT tuner locked to his VIN. As of right now it's still locked. I have heard its pretty expensive to send it to SCT to unlock it.

I heard 165 dollars to unlock. Also that you must return to stock tune as noted, then you can move the tuner to different car, to the max of 3 cars

u need to buy a tune that is for your car.. model year and mods that you have done to the car, He could be telling the truth and did return his car to stock tune, BUT you could be the 4th guy to use the tuner, so it locks up.. give Sean a call at Roe. If you install the wrong tune, the car might not start until you get a reboot for your cars computor- look for a model number on the ECM module

sent you a PM
