seat repair

I have a 2000 gts with 11000 miles on it. The drivers side seat is cracking up and down the seam high on the side. The car has never set in the sun or been in extreme cold. I am trying to locate some replacement material so I can have it repaired. I am a little disappointed with the quality of material. Does anyone else have this problem or is mine just a fluke? Any help would be greatly appreciated seeing how I can't sleep at night worrying about it..lol.

What did you use to "protect" or "condition" the leather?

I use Meguiars cleaner and conditioner. I have used it for years and never had any problems. All my vehicles have leather and show no sign of wear. That's why I am led to believe it may be a bad piece of material.

You say it is cracking "up and down the seam on the high side". That area is NOT leather, it's vinyl. The leather portion of the seat is the center insert. Email Chad at Snakehydes ([email protected]), he will tell you all about interiors and can do a real nice custom setup if you so desired.

No, it's not a fluke. This has been a problem spot. You'll rub up against the side whenever you get in or out of the car.

I had that problem on my 95 and just switched the drivers side seat with the passangers.

are you referring to where ytou rub while getting in and out of the car?

You can buy a replacement back for the seat for like 400-500 bucks, seems like a lot, but in the overall big picture, its not to bad i guess!
