I haven't tasted the B&M shifter but I did install the SVSi unit which performs quit well vis-a-vis the stock shifter. The upgraded heavy duty springs are a must, howver, for more affirmative gear engagement. I bought the B&M unit based upon input from Viper cognescenti.

I would recomend changing the knob first. I planned to swap out the shifter, but I got enough improvment from just changing the knob. I used MGW's Gripper shifter and my shifts are MUCH quicker now.

If you decide it is not enough you can always get the shifter then. You'll still want the new knob...
