Much to my amazement, my rear tire/wheel weighed 60.2 pounds.

So I'm guessing the complete set is almost 200 pounds.

Fedex w/o discount is just over $1 per pound from NV to PA so that is over $200.

I tried to get a FreightQuote cost, but they have shut me out of their site for some reason. But I suspect freight may be cheaper.

Anyone ship freight? Depot to depot?

Thanks
Tom

I have had GREAT sucess with FreightQuote. I have shipped numerous wheel/tire combo's now. The last set from Maryland to Texas was under $200! I had to wrap them up and put them on a pallet. Thats it!

Check with Greyhound. Basically, you put them on the bus, the new owner picks them up at their local terminal. They're generally cheaper than anyone else, and just as reliable.

It is not uncommon to spend $250-300 to ship a set of four wheels with tires mounted. A set of wheels without tires, usually around $120-140/set. All of our wheel manufacturers tend to use UPS Ground in the states, DHL international.

That is why the buyer always pays shipping :)

I just ran some numbers from NV 89701 to PA 15644.

A rear is 60# so I did 65 and Fedex was just over $70 with no account. So figure $1 per pound. Maybe 0.8 if you have an account.

Freight Quote was over $350 which was surprising.

Need to check Greyhound as you suggest. Actually I did good shipping a Feder Rhodes piano (big and heavy) through Delta Air Freight. Who would have thought!
