Hello guys,

This is my first post in the Viperclub forum, which i have put off as I have had been a member for a couple of months. For all the time i have been a member I have been reading and looking into everything I could find about the Gen V viper. I have never owned a viper before , however , It has been one of the cars I have always dreamed of having. When I heard of the Gen V viper coming out , I was excited at seeing the car of my dreams brought back and waited on the day till I got the chance to see one. When the Gen V was revealed it took my breath away, i was surprised and amazed, and I knew it was the car for me. The only other car I ever considered getting was the recent stingray, however, I decided against it since it does not capture me the way the viper does , in terms of looks and the raw feel it commands. So for about 2 years now I have been saving up to get the car of my dreams, and right now I have just about enough. I have been planing on getting the car in 2 months, where I will order one with the options that I want, but recently I have heard about the refresh that will happen in 2015 so I was wondering whether I should hold off on buying the car as it will have some changes or should I go ahead with the purchase instead?

This is a thank you ahead of time for the suggestions , hope to be a part of this informative community.

:headbang:Thats one great looking TA goldcup , congrats on the awesome ride.
The thing is I am super excited about getting the car , but I heard the refresh will happen in 7/15.
So I'm thinking of whether it is worth the wait if there is a boost in performance or a face lift. Decisions decisions, don't know what to do :dunno:. Any more suggestions?

I had an 08 ACR and was holding out for a new ACR but finally decided I liked the new TA and didn't wait. gold cup is right - there are some fantastic deals. My advice - don't wait for something that is only rumor right now.

I have been planning a trip to Tomball to check out all the selection they have, mainly to decide which color I like the best and order accordingly. But who knows, when the time comes i probably wont be able to hold myself.

killer TA john, love the orange!!! my color preferences for now are (billet silver, black , orange).

There aren't very many Billet Silvers on the market.

PLENTY of Red and Black. I swear 90% of them are Red or Black.

I just bought mine a few weeks ago (Shadow blue) and if I had to do it again, I think a White TA would have been my second choice. Or a White GTS with the Red interior/Aero Package.

Whether you wait or not, the '13/14 cars are great cars and will certainly not disappoint you. Esp if you've always wanted a Viper at heart.

Based on the bold text above I'd say you already know what you want and you should pull the trigger. I personally wouldn't wait for the refresh because of the fear that the team that restyled the 2015 Charger could be involved with the refresh of the Viper. :disappointed:

What is considered a smokin' deal? I saw an orange TA online new for $113, 365. Is that considered smokin' or are their some TA's out there for less?

If you want black, then easy to get a great deal on a 13 or 14 now. Not sure why you would order one when so many avail with any options combos you want. Orange is TA only, so would have to look now. Silver, less out there. If decide on black, buy now.

form your post you stated you have been reading the forms for a few months so you should be aware the plant is closed for the time being.if you were to order one, not sure they are even taking them, it could be a very long wait.:dunno: you can pick up a 13/14 for as much as $40.000 plus off sticker !!!, with plenty of choices with color and options. BUY NOW, use your savings for a huge deposit on the refresh and have the best of both worlds, 2 VIPERS.

1. The "refresh" announced, if it occurs at all, will not be until July, 2015 and if the past is any predictor, probably later.
2. There are 2013s and 2014s at great prices right now available all over the country.
3. Can you be sure that you will be around by July, 2015 or healthy enough to enjoy the car?
4. You saved to get your dream car. Get it. Enjoy it. Post about it.

Over and out.

Marketing 101 always has the newer cars bigger and better ala 2015 IF that happens. But negotiating a big discount on a dealers 14 TA could be the answer.

The "refresh" will be a new color and Dodge emblems.
That's the unknown-a refresh could just mean a new color -different emblems -new grille-no one really knows at this point-Go with the known=everyone on here seems to love their TA's
seems to be the way to go!!

Some have surmised that the refresh, might just be the release of a Convertible. Some believe it may actually come before that. More information may be release at the upcoming factory event this summer, or as is traditional, at the VOI in the Fall.

While nobody knows the future, the current Generation Viper is a pretty compelling purchase right now. Lots of selection, and some pretty agressive pricing by the high volume dealerships.

You may just find that you have enough money already to get yourself into a brand new Viper. I understand that dealers have just rec'd some factory financial incentives to move out their inventory. No need to wait, as instead of ordering a car from the factory and waiting, there is a pretty good selection of 3013 and 2014's on dealers lots, ready to move.

Your timing might be just right.

The dealer cash was for 2013s only. 10K for the GTS and 7.5K for the SRT. The dealers received the funds weeks ago based on their 2013 inventory at the time.

Mohamed-

My experience is that some of the longest waits in my life have been waiting for Vipers. I ordered both my gen 3 and gen 4 on day 1 of the inaugural order window, and both took more than a year to actually show up at my door. I don't regret that at all, but if I had the choice to have gotten one at that moment instead, that's what I would have done.

If you MUST have a vert, then wait (and be ok that it may not come at all), if you want a coupe, then my advice is jump on a fantastic bargain now.

Better yet, go drive one, I guarantee you will do anything you can to drive it home, it changes your life, no exaggeration.

Only you know what's best for you but I would rather drive now and enjoy it. History tells you that Viper refreshes do not tend to include performance upgrades in fact Viper refreshes do not happen often. You buy now and the alleged refreshed car is a bit better. Are you a good enough driver to extract the difference? I'm not not sure I can extract all the performance out of my wife's SUV!:)

THANK YOU!! for all the suggestions guys I can already tell this forum will provide me tons of information on the viper. All of your suggestions have made me decide that I will not wait any longer and make my purchase as soon as possible. I will be leaving the country next month and so I will make the purchase when I'm back , which is two months from now. As I mentioned before I will be going to Tomball to check out all the colors there since I want to have an idea of what the colors are like in real life. Other than that I will start looking for deals right now. Thanks for the help guys and God bless!

P.S: If I happen to pick up a TA will the dealer be able to switch the performance tires to the normal ones , because while I will be taking it to the track it will probably be a couple of times per year, so I would rather have the ones which are more convenient for road use.

I wouldn't order a Viper again. Better deals to be had on existing built cars, and no months of waiting. Buy now.

The tires that come with the TA are pretty good for daily driving. The only downside is that they will not last as long.

Good decision.

On of the problems with waiting is that you can never wait long enough.

There is always something better, just around the corner. That is the way it is in the high performance car marketplace. The engineers keep improving the breed (and often increasing the price). They thrive on getting people excited about the new or upcoming stuff, but at sometime you gotta make your move.

Mohamed, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Or better yet, a Viper in your garage is worth 100 on your computer screen. Do some shopping, there are plenty of cars available locally. Tomball is also a great source and will probably have the best selection.

As for waiting....why wait, just think of all the great experiences and fun you can have before the 2015 Model arrives, if it arrives. There are no guarantees in the automotive industry.

My advice, by one when you get back into the country. Register for VOI 13. Drive it to Texas, track it on COTA and drive it back. It will probably be the best experience in your car hands down.

My car was still pretty new when VOI 8 happened in Texas back in 04. I drove out with fellow members and we had a blast. Best of luck.

Finally, we are having in event in Northern Virginia next Sunday (weather permitting). Feel free to stop by and check out the cars. This can also give you some ideas of what the colors looks like, even if they are not on the same body style. Most of the color palette has remained the same.

I too was planning to wait and see what the 2015 looks like and was really hoping for the release of the ACR. my plan now is to pick up a 13 in the winter time (when I will have enough saved) hoping the deals are still there and hopefully get some news on the 2015.

I wondered this. so the TA is above the gts model? I was planning to upgrade my brakes and suspension to aftermarket and go all out if and when tuning is available. in other words I wouldn't keep it stock. would te TA be a better car for me or the gts? I like the b/w 2013 gts and he yellow with black stripe gts. the only TA color I like is white.

IMO if you're doing those mods the. I wouldn't do a TA. You would be changing things on the car that make up the price of the TA. I'd mod a GTS or SRT.

The GTS is the grand touring model, the TA is more track-focused with smaller variation between suspension settings, stiffer springs, solid sway bars, and higher thermal capacity brakes. It really depends on how much you want to spend on mods, what particular mods you plan on doing, how you plan to use your car, and what kind of deal you can get on either model.

Can we be more factual with responses. The GTS is not the grand touring model. Please drive these cars and quickly find out that leather seats don't make a car a grand touring car. Actually, do some research and you quickly find the TA the best track time, but the GTS is extremely close (with no aero) and the base model is close as well.

So, I think this suggestion is pretty simple:
1) want the best factory prepped track car, want it in orange, black or white and not all the luxury features, then get the TA
2) want a different color, fancier interior options, and or already planning to modify the brakes and/or suspension, get the GTS
3) want a different color, (don't care about interior) and planning to modify brakes and/or suspension, get the base model

I think that it is a little more complicated than that. The TA is an OEM engineered and warranted package. It also allows you to switch the suspension settings on the fly. I am not aware of an aftermarket suspension modification setup that allows you to continue to use the adjustable on the fly system that comes with the car. So you can upgrade the stock GTS or SRT brakes, change out the sway bars, change out the suspension and tune it the way you want it, but you will not be able to switch back and forth between street and track on the fly.

But, with that said, if you are getting a Viper to use it for drag racing, then it would be best to get the base model, which is lighter than the GTS because you are going to need to change a few things to maximize your repeatable launch capability, e.g. clutch which Nineball has reported does not like slippage that much and for people who drag race every weekend a clutch upgrade is recommneded. Perehaps Jack and Nineball will chime in here with respect to changes that improve repeatable drag strip performance in the Gen V.
