I know I've seen threads about replacing the screws on the side sills, but I can't seem to locate them. My '94 had the original OE's replaced under warranty and I had no problems until I was recently forced to remove and replace the passenger sill 3 times. Now 2 of of the screws :usa: will no longer gain a purchase. Short of getting larger screws, is there another fix?

Thanks in advance......

Don

Check the illustrated upgrades off the main page for this site... there is a full article addressing this situation.

A drift punch and a small hammer are good for gently peening the flared edge of the hole back down. I always dab some silicone sealer onto the screw before inserting it. Keeps corrosion down and the fastener in place.

Hey Don, I have tightened up some lower side sill screws by using a piece of aluminum welding (tig welding) rod. 3/16 or 1/8 inch will work. Stick in the hole then insert screw.....gently tighten and then cut or move the rod back and forth to break off.
