It's common on every Viper due to the exhaust pipes inside the side sills. It's just more noticeable on silver cars. The consensus here is to get high flow cats or get rid of the cats.

Yes, silver cars seem to have the most problems with yellowing the side sills from hot cats. Can't say I'm a fan of removing the cats...

A couple other alternative exist.

1. The high flow cats do seem to run cooler.

2. Paint the inside of the side sills with a high temperature paint like VHT 1500.

3. Make sure there is no contact between the cats and the side sills or heat shield.

4. Add air vents at the front of the side sills to help cool the cats (see PartsRack or call JonB).

I've done 2 and 3 on my 98 silver / blue GTS and have had only some minor yellowing since last side sill re-spray 2 years ago.

Mine were yellow at one time. I got mine repainted and also lined the inside of the sills with header wrap. Works great!

My driver side is a little yellow. But since hi-flow cats, no noticable increase in yellowing. I figure it is just another form of road rash. I bought the car to drive, and drive hard.

Thanks all for your posts,

If i go with silver, I think i will do high flow cats and heat shield the inside of the side pods
