I decided to do a quick look through wreckedexotics.com

Amazing results. All those beautiful TC-equiped cars, Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, Aston Martins, Mercedes, Ferraris, Ferraris, Ferraris...

All these exotics with TC and in light of the increased accident rate amongst them it appears to have been a reason for the increase in accidents rather than a safety feature.

Mods: posted here because there are a very few that want TC on our SRT Vipers.

The car and TC say nothing about the driver. Just proves most people with too much money have too little skill. Proves nothing good or bad about TC.

Id rather them add TC, saying it will help, rather then decreasing HP back down to say 300hp max on all cars if federal mandated.

Most forms of racing are now using TC, it allows you to put more power down to the ground and is easier on the tires. Do I want TC.... I dont mind as long as you have a option to disable it. Part of the reason I picked the Viper over a Z06 was NO TC. I like using my right foot as TC.

But at any rate, TC is coming and will probably have some form on all cars very soon. I would be willing to bet a TC equipped Viper will lap quicker then a non equipped car. So Chuck just think of it as you will be able to go that much faster one day, you will be able to put more power down on the ground.

The problem I see with drivers of these cars is they think this system allows them to getaway with anything... right up till physics takes over then they are clueless as what to do and how quickly! ABS was the same when it first came out and airbags have made drivers feel overly safe also. It s still all up to you and YOUR abilities.

Agreed totally. The DRIVER has always and SHOULD always be the one in control of the vehicle. I think TC adds a 'false' sense of security for some people (I prefer to drive with the TC OFF on my TC-added cars)...it's as you say...DRIVER RESPONSIBILITY. ~juli

I think when you have TC and other aids, it gives a false bubble of safety. The reality is, you will still wreck if your outside of your abilities.

My previous car was a Supra TT and it had TC on by default. I can swear that it was the most buggy TC I have ever seen. It caused an accident once when I was around 60mph and in 6th gear in the wet causing me to spin out and another time at 80mph when I was really hot in 3rd gear changing lanes over freshly painted lane markers. The latter incident totalled the car and I vowed never to buy a TC car again.

Since owning the Viper, I have had numerous incidents of traction loss, some deliberate, some accidental, many around curves, but I've always had control of my car and have no regrets on giving up TC.

I think you're confusing TC with electronic stability control aren't you Chas?

If it's free or near free, why knock it? It's the 21st century dude.
