Is there a database or vin info on the retired Skip Barber cars?

I'm looking to replace my '06 red/siver coupe (totalled by 3rd party) and came across a 800 mile red/silver at a midwest dealer. Dealer said he bought it at the Chrysler Auction in Chicago, said company car, not sure, demo, car show, etc. Friend pulled vin history, reflected shipped and prepped to a dealer near Sebring FL. Called dealer this morning, "that's a skip barber car". This vin is 100752 and I've seen another car on line in the chicago area that's a couple of numbers different. I'd reason is also a barber car.

Tried to search the archieves, is there information out there on what vin #'s they had? I had a great time at 2 SRT events but....

I dunno... I'd get a skip barber car, especially if I plan on tracking it. Sure they get beat up on a lot, but that proves their durability. Not to mention they're constantly maintained. Of course, only if it's a deal I can't pass up on.

My 97 is from the Viper Racing School which folded in 2000. I've been beating on it ever since with the only major problem losing 5th in 2005. These cars are bulletproof.

I have to say, that the beating we put on those Vipers at VOI made me a true believer. As a matter of fact, all the SRT cars were amazing.

It is real important that you put the car on a lift and make the seller remove the belly pan so you can inspect the frame. Yo want to look at the front and rear clips, these are the main frame rails on each side of the front and rear of the car. You want to look at the area where they bend and see if there has been any repainting or cracking of the finish as the original is powder coated. If there is you know the viper has been wrecked and you want to walk away. Also look at the mounting points of the upper and lower control arms as these are also places where any accidents will show up. It goes without saying that an inspection of the wheels, both inside and outside, will tell a lot also. Buying a Skip Barber School car with 800 miles on it as that is like 8,000 street miles.

I bought a car from Bugeater. It had been tracked, and was and is a great car after almost three years under my ownership.

I'm pretty sure that since I bought it with 12,000 Bugeater miles, that's the equivalent of 250 gazillionbazillion ultra street miles. Car runs good.

Bingo! Wise, wise words of any viper purchase.

To me it would be a matter of price. While Skip's cars might
have started life rough you can rest assured that they weren't
maintained by some jiffy-lube flunkie. Would I pay top dollar
for one - absolutely not, but if its at the mid-to-bottom end
of the market and I planned to actually drive it, then a few
trips around the track wouldn't bother me in the least.

Wouldn't surpise me if it still had an intact warranty too..
