Smooth tubes for a Gen I

We have a new (1994) Viper in town and we are wondering about using smooth tubes on it along with the K & N filters. I have looked at past posts and searched, but I didn't find anything about whether you can eliminate the ****-bank plenum (?) thing hanging off the bottom of the intake tubes. I have a Gen II so it was new to me. Can you eliminate the plenum and fit the smooth tubes to the air inlet and not cause any problems?

I am sorry if I missed the information in past posts, but I searched all the places I thought that I could find it.

I installed a set of chrome smooth tubes on my car last month so I have an extra set of black ones here. I think he will use this them, but thank you for the offer.

I guess you'll find out soon. You'll probably be fine but a bit tight. 2.75" is a little bit oversized but considering there's an offset on either end (each end of the hose will cut at a slight angle), the fit is actually quite good.
